    View Treatments Menu

Half Moon, A RockResort is a sprawling luxury resort with an extraordinary array of recreation facilities and luxury amenities. The 400-acre property on Jamaica's northern coast was initially developed by a group of 1950s luminaries to capitalize on its crescent-shaped white-sand beaches, from which the resort takes its name. The 68,000-square-foot (6,317 square meters) holistic spa offers 14 rooms as well as six beachfront treatment suites. Guests use golf carts to travel between buildings, whose architecture merges colonial and contemporary styles, while admiring tropical Jamaican scenery along the way.

A staff of romance professionals caters to wedding parties and honeymooning couples. A private patio with an outdoor shower awaits lovebirds in Fern Tree, the Spa at Half Moon's couples' massage rooms. Families, too, enjoy special resort activities including horseback riding lessons at the on-site equestrian center, puppet shows and games at the children's play area, and swimming with dolphins in a natural ocean lagoon. Golfers can attend the resort's David Leadbetter Golf Academy in preparation for a round on the 18-hole championship course.

Fern Tree, the Spa at Half Moon, A RockResort was formerly one of the resort's oversized guest villas. The 68,000-square-foot (6,317 square meters) facility has preserved elements of the villa's opulent colonial design, including hardwood flooring, elegant entryways, and plush furniture. To this upscale aesthetic is added a design concept equally inspired by land and sea. Among the spa amenities are landscaped gardens, plunge pools, a greenhouse yoga studio, a spa café, and a VIP suite.

Rooms designed specifically to house couples' massage feature outdoor showers, soaking tubs, and private garden patios. Six spa-adjacent beachfront suites allow guests to stay at the spa, offering all the conveniences of resort accommodations (including oversized bedrooms, bathrooms, and private patios with sea views) as well as a treatment studio for spa services or one-on-one fitness classes. The family-oriented spa cottage has a separated living area and a private studio.

Spa-goers can choose from a comprehensive menu of treatments that integrate Jamaican ingredients in order to address guests' long-term wellness goals holistically. A Spa Elder is available to create a customized holistic program composed of authentic Jamaican spa therapies, fitness offerings, and mind-body services. Upon arrival, each spa-goer receives a foot bath with lavender or nutmeg oil and a cup of traditional Jamaican Bush Tea. Signature therapies (such as the 80-minute Half Moon Massage) integrate Blue Mountain Aromatic essential oils, a customized blend of traditional herbs, and a special parting gift.

The fitness center houses a full complement of conditioning and weight-training equipment as well as daily aerobics, Pilates, and yoga classes. Personal training sessions are also available. A total of 51 private and public pools leave swimmers spoiled for choice.

I was at this resort for my cousin's wedding and experienced the best facial I have ever had. She carefully went through options and treatments and what each would help with. The atmosphere of the facility was very relaxing and beautiful. The facialist was great! Her touch was never too hard or abrasive and the towels were at the perfect temperature. I still compare all other facials to this experience. I can't wait to go back!

I visited this spa, years ago - and still remember the massage as one of the best I've ever had - hands down. The relaxation room was awesome with wicker chaise lounge chairs set far apart enough not to realize that there are other patrons in the room. The masseuse was quiet and extremely strong. I highly recommend Half Moon, if you are in Montego Bay.

Rooms & Dining

Half Moon, A RockResort offers 398 rooms, suites, and villas designed to reflect the Jamaican landscape and cultural heritage. Four- to seven-suite Royal Villas are serviced by a full-time staff and encompass landscaped gardens and swimming pools. Though common living and dining areas encourage guest interaction, each Royal Suite features its own private patio from which guests can gaze at ocean and/or garden views. Tropical-themed décor and artisanal furniture distinguish beachfront Oleander Cottage accommodations. Four-poster mahogany beds and wireless internet access are available in select rooms.

The resort's six dining options appeal to a wide range of tastes. Reservations are required for dinner at the elegant Il Giardino, featuring authentic Italian decor and a matching menu with specialties such as veal osso buco with risotto alla Milanese. Adventurous patrons are invited to sample Moghlai cuisine (a blend of traditional Indian and Thai culinary styles that originated in the 16th century) at Akbar Restaurant. Jamaican cuisine is served al fresco on a stone terrace at the dinner-only Sugar Mill Restaurant. Light, grilled fare and a casual beachfront dress code contribute to La Baguette's relaxed ambiance.

An English-style pub (complete with fish and chips and other familiar favorites) and an all-day outdoor eatery shaded by almond trees provide additional choices.

The resort has seven bars and lounges that range in atmosphere from an Old World lounge with live piano music to a beachfront bar offering light snacks, gourmet pizzas, and tropical cocktails.

Activities

Half Moon's expansive 400-acre property houses a broad array of recreation choices for both children and adults, although many guests will want to do nothing more than sunbathe on the crescent-shaped white-sand beaches. Though motorized water sports are prohibited in Half Moon Bay, boat tours, snorkeling, scuba diving, and waterskiing can be arranged through the resort. Snorkeling, kayaking, and pedal boats are available for on-property guest use.

At the tennis center, 13 courts lit for night play are ideal for an impromptu match or a lesson with one of the resort's professional instructors. The award-winning 18-hole Half Moon Golf Course features 7,119 yards of championship play on meandering greens surrounded by a picturesque tropical landscape.

As adults are enjoying relaxation on the beach or rejuvenation at the spa, kids aged three to 12 can take advantage of the Anancy Children's Village (named after a popular character from Jamaican folk stories), where puppet shows, arts and crafts activities, and supervised play comprise full- or half-day programs. Families can experience quality time at the exclusive dolphin lagoon offering fully interactive encounters between guests and these frisky sea creatures under the careful control of trained handlers. Man and beast also meet at the Rocky Point Stables at Half Moon, which allows guests to explore magnificent Montego Bay scenery on horseback.

There are more than 40 specialty shops and boutiques at the resort selling duty-free Jamaican crafts, resort wear, and photo equipment, among other convenient items.
