Surfaces, the Spa

I received a spa finders gift card and fortunately I selected this spa. The spa is so clean and well designed. Just beautiful. I found the staff and service impeccable and very responsible. They care enough to use certified organic products and to give you loads of tips on home care. When I left, I felt like a flower growing in a desert. This is my second time coming here and I think I have found a keeper!

I participated in Wellnes Week last year and almost missed the best spa ever. I read some outdated reviews on a review site and finally looked in the filtered section and saw the real reviews by people who didn't spend their days writing reviews. I was greeted by the staff with a hot towel and tea. The spa is very beautiful. The facialist explained why I had dark spots and why I had dry, wrinkled skin with rosacia. It made so much sense and none has ever explained my skin so well. I was put on a 2 week regime and after a year of a "less is more" regime, I have never had my face look this good. The rosacia is under control and my dark spots have lightened on my less wrinkled skin. A special thanks to spafinder and just think, I almost missed out.

I can't believe what some people will write. I have been coming to Surfaces for years and it keeps getting better. The people there are wonderful, the services are flawless and there is NO PLACE on Solano Ave that can compare to the beauty of this place. What a great place.

When I made my appointment, I specifically asked for the European Facial ($75) and the Full Body Massage ($85). My friend and I went and ended up with the same conclusion -- we should've gone somewhere else! For the money we paid and the experience we had, it wasn't worth it. The facial in itself was "nice", but not the greatest. Vel (the Owner) came in and did the facial. She preaches the "back to basics" idea of keeping your face clean and fresh and we had good conversation, but it was the part where I had to pay that startled me. I was charged an additional $10 for a treatment that I didn't agree to having. If that wasn't disappointing enough, next was my massage... I don't quite remember the massage, only because the gal who did it was a nonstop talker! My 60 minutes came and went with all its glory; however, I did walk away knowing A LOT more than I needed to know about my therapist (i.e., her diet plans; social life; etc.). After my friend wrote a full page of complaints before leaving the Spa, we were (finally) given our refunds almost 2 weeks later (my $10, her $20). Two stars and not one??? One star for the receptionist who was very pleasant and tried to keep us happy during our stay, and the other for atmosphere.

I can finally say I have found the best skin care for my face. The facials at this day spa are amazing. They use only "certified organic" products and not only do they explain what is being used but why you need that step in their simple regimen. More is less. That's what I have been searching for. I had given up on all the "hype". But now I can finally exhale with relief that my skin will be taken care of.
