I did the Spa Refresher at the Mokara Spa. I had a massage, facial, lunch and a body scrub. All of the treatments and therapists were wonderful. It was a very relaxing experience. Their "relaxation room" is wonderful. They let you stay as long as you want. I would definitely return and would definitely recommend this spa!

MUST try "Riverwalk Foot Fix Massage"

I'm writing this several months after we visited San Antonio, and can't remember the name of the woman who gave me this *awesome* and rejuvenating foot massage. Upon arrival, I was immed. whisked away and shown around - many nice amenities. Relaxed a while (LOVED the warm aromatherapy neck wrap!), then time for the foot fix - and it does. I'd also just had stitches removed a few days before underneath 3 toes on my right foot (then my husband accidentally stepped on it!). I told the treatment specialist about this problem, and she worked around it without hurting it (and indeed, made it better). Because of this injury I'd been walking oddly and using muscles not usually in play - she took care of that, too. If you really want to enjoy everything there is to see, make this a priority at the end of your 1st or 2nd day in town (when you've still got a lot to go, anyway). That evening and next day the others in our group were starting to complain about hurting feet/legs, while I was still good to go, injury and all! I can't recommend this highly enough -- all the luxury of a massage w/o breaking the bank; and the plus of it works.

My visit was nice- a complaint tho.My tour of the facilities (which are awesome and pretty) was short and bad. It was hurtful that I heard another girl giving much better tours to other women- the staff should be equally trained, yes? I had to find someone a few times to ask questions my tour should have answered already. This soured my stay and took up time I should have been relaxing. My massage was nice. My facial was very good- Heidi was wonderful, wonderful. The facial products smelled great. If I did go back I would go for Heidi and the nice amenities. The rest of the staff was very nice and treated me great. Maybe I just got off to a bad start? There is also a 19% gratuity that is charged when you pay automatically, adjustable, but they charge you right off the bat not sure if this is a good or bad thing.I was happy when I left, but had expected a bit more I suppose.

I was at the spa on 8/2/2010 and purchased their Stroll Along the River package which includes a facial, lunch, spa pedicure and spa manicure, and did the treatments in that order. The entire package set me back about $280 (with tip), so I expected a wonderful day. The facial was very nice and the lunch was too, although it was basically a sandwich, side salad, drink and dessert. The service level was great with everyone I came into contact with, but the quality of the pedicure and manicure was very poor. The manicurist spent her time shaping my nails and was very pleasant, as was the pedicurist. However, the color on my nails started chipping within hours. I don't often get my nails done, but have never had such a short-lived manicure. Not even the last-minute-at-the-mall-for-$15 variety, so this was terribly disappointing. I showered after all the treatments were complete which seemed to leave a white film over the toenail color (I had finished my pedicure over an hour prior to the shower), so while it didn't chip off, it's still not the quality I expected.I can only assume that the Michelin rating is for the facility, which was beautiful. I would not recommend this spa due to my overall experience, although the people working there were very kind and professional. In the end, even if the environment is nice, what good is a manicure that's chipped beyond salvaging within 2 days and a flubbed pedicure? I really, really wish that I had just gotten the facial and skipped the rest of the services. I don't have the funds to treat myself to a spa day more than once or twice a year, so it's terribly disappointing to have such a bad experience.

This was one of the best spas I've been to. The treatments were very relaxing and professional. Me and my sister did a package that included a wrap, massage, polish and lunch. The lounge and sauna/whirlpool area were also very relaxing. The rooftop lunch was great, we even got to eat in our robes!

My 40th Bday at The Watermark

ByRoseynH | August 22, 2009
My husband surprised me on my birthday with a 3-hour spa package that included a facial, massage, pedicure and manicure. The facial was great- the technician was professional and effective. The massage was relaxing as well. Because I have gels, which my husband forgot to mention, the manicure became a big deal. Prior to the end of my massage, the staff indicated the time frame was a problem (although my husband booked it in advance through their receptionist) and we wouldn't be able to fit in the rooftop luncheon. Even with this mistake on their part, the option of simply getting my nails filed and painted, instead of a full manicure, became a big deal. In the end, I received no hand treatment at all but still had to pay the full amount. I thought this was semi-unprofessional as I would be someone to frequent The Watermark and become an established client. However, as difficult as the manager on duty was in terms of the payment vs. the services, the actual treatments were extremely satisfying.
