About Elemis Spa at Mohegan Sun

Set on 240 acres in the foothills of southeastern Connecticut, Mohegan Sun is a casino and hotel that brings pampering spa treatments to the world of gaming and golf with its spacious Elemis Spa, which offers an extensive menu inspired by 10 exotic cultures.

The 34-story hotel's design pays tribute to the Mohegan tribe and its connection with nature. A dramatic crystalline tower representing arrowheads and ceremonial entities, an exploit of exterior glass reflecting the sun, and a 55-foot indoor waterfall and three-story alabaster-and-onyx crystal mountain accompany the Native American aesthetic.

Hotel amenities include 300,000 square feet of gaming area, a family/kids' entertainment complex, a 100,000-square-foot convention center, and an 18-hole golf course. Two entertainment venues frequently showcase live concerts and sporting events, including Mohegan Sun's WNBA team, the Connecticut Sun. The on-site Shops at Mohegan Sun encompass two stories of retail and dining establishments.

The culture of the Mohegan tribe informs the design of the Elemis Spa at Mohegan Sun, with decorative touches such as carpet designed to represent running water, ceiling designs to represent the longevity of the turtle, and whimsical and spiritual music throughout the facility.

The spa is 23,000 square feet with 18 treatment rooms, as well as a salon, private sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, fitness center, and relaxation lounges for men and women.

Treatments are inspired by a blend of exotic cultures and ancient rituals and include facials, massage, wraps, and full hair and nail services at the salon. Two of the spa's signature rituals are the Ceremony of the Sacred Sun--which incorporates an exotic lime and ginger salt glow with a Total Glow Self Tanning Treatment, followed by a Swedish massage--and the Ceremony of the Strawberry Moon, which features a couple's massage lesson, a jasmine flower bath for two, and a bottle of champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries to enjoy during the bath.

My friend and I did a spa day and had a great relaxing time at this spa. The staff and facility was calm and relaxing. Besides the great massage, there was a steam room, whirlpool, sauna as well as pool. We ate lunch with drinks at poolside in our robes and slippers. It was a great day!

Here is my experience:I am given a bathrobe that looks like it was supposed to be white but some how is dingy grey and so worn that it is see thru. The pedicure chairs don't have working massagers (the controls are there they just don't work) and the leather on the chairs is worn thru. The manicurists were all passing around the same couple of bottles of top coat (I had to wait). I asked why they didn't grab another and was told there wasn't anymore. They have 4 pedicure stations and 3 foot dryers so I had to wait again. They have 5 manicure stations and only 2 hand dryers (had to wait).I was told they didn't have any open appointments for hair but there seemed to be 2 managers getting their hair done (and I know they were managers from the spa business they were talking about while getting their hair done in front of customers). They ran out of towels. I was given two small hand towels to use after I showered.I go in the relaxation lounge (to relax) and there are like 50 women crammed into a room the size of a closet with like 3 little loveseats.I complained at the desk and the 2 little tarts (one w/ long black hair and the other a reddish).I am wondering how they have the rating that they have. Do they pay for it?

Over the weekend, I was treated to a 'moms' weekend away, and part of my gift was a day at Elemis. The facility was amazing, providing every ammenity, and the staff was friendly, professional and courteous. I can't wait to go back. I would highly recommend this facility. Even after my treatments were finished, I had access to the locker room, pool, fitness facility, etc. for the day. Wonderful service.

A few weeks ago, my daughter and I treated ourselves to an afternoon at the Elemis Spa. We had an excellent experience. Everyone was very friendly, professional and courteous. The relaxation room was quiet and had various treats and drinks. We were taken to our treatment rooms in a timely manner. The treatment rooms very clean and what I particularly liked, soundproof. Nothing is worst than hearing noise from outside the room when you are trying to relax. After the massage and facials, we had plenty of time to use the other facilities, steam room and whirpool. We never felt rushed. The dressing room had all the amenities needed to get yourself ready for a day at the casino. We would highly recommend this spa for a special treat.

This is my third visit, and it keeps getting better.I booked myself a Swedish massage, when I checked in I was offered the Aroma Stone! I took the reccomendations of the concierge and upgraded my massage! What a Dream! 80 minutes of hot stones was the best massage I have ever had. I cannot wait for my next visit.
