Listed as a National Register of Historic Places Landmark, the Mission Inn Hotel and Spa occupies an entire city block in downtown Riverside, California, and draws a crowd of dignitaries, cultural aficionados, honeymooners and romantics, and spa enthusiasts. The hotel's design blends southwestern and Californian influences with Mediterranean style; elegant architectural elements include domed archways, bell and clock towers, a wrought-iron staircase, a five-story open-air rotunda and interior courtyards, and a Tuscan-inspired spa.
The 2.5-acre hotel, which reopened following completion of a $55-million makeover in 1991, has 239 guest rooms, a selection of culinary options, and two wedding chapels set in the atrio, or Spanish-colonial inspired courtyard. Guests can also explore the hotel's on-site museum.

Complementing the hotel's sophisticated European aesthetic, the Tuscan-style Kelly's Spa at the Mission Inn is designed with dramatic archways and frescoes along the corridors, and cosmopolitan Tuscan villas come appointed with a fireplace. The 6,732-square-foot spa has 12 treatment rooms, relaxation lounges including co-ed areas, eucalyptus-infused steam areas, and an outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi.
Guests can indulge in Old World-inspired services that utilize European herbs and oils, and in some cases, incorporate botanical products from the spa's exclusive line. Offerings include facials, microdermabrasion, body wraps and scrubs, nail treatments, and 10 massage modalities, including Four Hands, Reflexology, Swedish, and Hot Stone.
