Built almost 300 years ago as Prince Jan Wellem's private retreat, the Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg today provides guests with impressive views of the city of Cologne and the Cologne Cathedral.
Opened in 2000, the luxury hotel in the hills of the Bergisch Land features a three-Michelin star restaurant. Renovated in August 2007, Vendôme is a gourmet restaurant of chef Joachim Wissler and managed by Miguel Angel Calero Novillo.
The property's spa, Beauty & Leading Spa, is a 1,000-square-meter facility that focuses on sporty relaxation. Treatments are conducted with body-care products from La Prairie, Jeanne Piaubert, Niance, and Ligne St. Barth.

Sporty relaxation is the focus of the Beauty & Leading Spa. The 1,000-square-meter space features eight treatment rooms and is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Treatments feature La Prairie, Ligne St. Barth, Niance, and Jeanne Piaubert products. The spa's day program options include Men's Special, Caribbean Day, and Pampering Day. Individual treatments include a massage that begins with clients' choice of St. Barth oil, the Just Fit facial for men, hand treatment and massage, caviar hand and face treatments, and makeup and hair appointments. Couples may get the Relax Day for Him and Her, and it is possible to coordinate all treatments for couples.
The spa also has a sauna, steam room, and separate men's and women's changing area with showers. With the environment in mind, the spa also has an energy-saving building design and water-conservation program. Guests may also sign up for the Royal Spa Club membership.

All of the hotel's 120 guest rooms include marble bathrooms and elegantly decorated interiors integrated with modern technology. Six room types range from the executive single to the presidential suite, of which two are available.
Chef Joachim Wissler's Vendôme uses the finest ingredients. The contemporary restaurant is located inside a nobleman's house, and the decor features Zebrano wood, Travertine granite, carved crown moulding, and stained glass. Italian fare is served in Trattoria Enoteca's rustic setting, which also houses a wine shop, and Sunday champagne brunch is served in the Jan Wellem Restaurant.
Cuisine at the spa is portion-controlled, and dietary needs may be accommodated on request.
