colleen massageBy tinao | January 16, 2013
Went to Topper's today for a therapeutic massage with Colleen. My experience was exceptional!! She was very professional, provided a great amount of pressure, and provided a very relaxing environment. A solid 5 star massage.

Rude staff experienceBy johnsona2 | August 9, 2012
I went to this spa about 1 year ago and not only did they not have my reservation correct, but I could hear the staff gossiping about each other and their clients as I was waiting for my service. I also waited approximately 45 minutes to be called in for my service, and then was told "sorry we forgot you." The service was provided by someone other than whom I asked for. Of note, the manager was kind and offered to comp me a service for the future, but based on my experience I opted not to return.

Disappointing - will not returnBy MeghanM | April 30, 2012
I used to visit the Toppers Spa in Devon, PA and found it wonderful and relaxing. However, my recent visit to Toppers Rittenhouse was very disappointing. They stick you in this large open room with plants and water features while you wait for your massage therapist. It was freezing! They dumped me there alone and I had to walk around trying to find someone to give me a blanket. They gave me two more terry robes to cover myself instead! I was still cold. And my massage therapist then had freezing hands that were rough and disgusting. Please have that woman exfoliate! And finally on my way out two of the massage therapists were fighting within earshot of the check out area. Absolutely no professionalism. Do not waste your time or money here.

Great hair salon!By hgonet | August 25, 2011
I first started having my hair highlighted and cut at Toppers when I received a card for a complimentary haircut. I've been going ever since. Rudy does such a great job and everyone is friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend!

disappointingBy oritk | July 22, 2011
I wanted to love toppers but the front desk staff always charged me different prices for on different visits for the same services ( hair cut highlights, single processing)- and it was always more expensive each time i went.
they don't have it together. They charge a lot for the quality and you can get better service at lower prices at good salons in town.

Spa regularBy coolrun98 | June 14, 2011
I am a spa regular with my friends, I have been to many wonderful spas around the country. Toppers was not a relaxing experience at all. I went with three other friends and I was getting a facial and a hot stone massage. I was placed on the 4th floor open bright air "room"....basically when they over book, you get shoved on this floor. You could hear sirens from the police cars, it was so bright, the lady giving me a massage placed a towel over my eyes. Overall, very dissatisfied with my experience. I even wrote a letter to the manager, so they would be able to correct the overflow issue.

OVERRATEDBy heidi | December 11, 2010
This spa is completely overrated. It sits on top of a hair salon and has a gym atmosphere with a shared locker room. The services are standard but for the cost, I would expect a little more ambiance.

I love Toppers!!By PhillyVixen | June 5, 2010
I am a Philadelphia Native now living in Texas (where there are many amazing spas) but whenever I am in Philly for work or visiting family I plan a visit to Toppers Spa in Rittenhouse. Their atmosphere is serene and calming. The staff are superbly helpful and nice. The variety of many services I received were all impeccable. Overall Toppers ranks supreme!!

an OK spa experienceBy dalias | March 8, 2010
Overall slightly disappointed with my day at Toppers Spa. Before making my appointment I asked around and researched plenty of spas. Toppers seemed to be the best of the bunch, even being recommended by friends. I called the spa and asked about promotions, the employee who answered the phone seemed in a rush and told me to go online and check the specials which I found unlikeable but still continued on, I went online and did like the amount of promotions the spa offered. The pricing was fair and it offered many services. I then called again and booked a visit. Something I did like is that this spa has no cancelation fee if I couldn't make it. So the day of the spa came (I booked an european facial) The location was easy to find which is a plus being in the city. As I entered the staff seemed friendly and quickly took me upstairs, I did not have to wait much before I met my specialist, she was also polite and showed me to the locker room. The locker room had a nice feeling to it and there I safely put away my belongings and went into my robe and slippers. I believe the flip-flops could of been better, they felt slightly uncomfortable. After changing I went to the specialist again to follow her to the room where she would help me. Once getting there she asked me to disrobe while she was still in the room. I found this very uncomfortable so asked her to please leave the room while I disrobed and went under the blanket. She seemed confused but eventually did. Then it was time for the actual facial. The facial was average. She overall did a good job but certain things would interrupt what I had hoped to be a relaxing experience. In the background over the spa music I could hear traffic and an unloading truck which became distracting. But the worse part of the facial would be at the part when the steam was hitting my face. It seems the specialist put the boiling water to close to me and water from it spit out and burned me. By far that was the low of the facial. After the facial ended I was taken back to change< after that I went downstairs to pay and the clerk tried to charge me a different price then online, but after I mentioned it again he did honor it. Overall Toppers was not horrible, but it also did not meet up to all the hype. I would most likely not attend the spa again but if someone is looking for an average experience then this spa could work for them.

Not worth itBy KristyB | January 9, 2010
I went to toppers because I'm new from NYC and my friends here told me to go to toppers if I wanted a good spa/salon. With high expectations, I was let down by the first appointment phone call when the receptionist was unkind and clearly not happy about life. Next, I was told to go to the top floor and my waxer Carol I think her name was, called me into her room from the bathroom across the hall. She immediately made me feel very uncomfortable while she didn't leave the room while I took off my clothes. Totally ackward and just plain weird. I just laid there watching her double dip the wax, and only used stripped wax, none of the blue stuff I'm used to. As if all these things weren't bad enough, When I got to the receptionist to pay, she charged me $80 for a brazillian wax. Way more than the website said and when I questioned it, she just told me I was wrong. So rude. So now I was treated rudely, overpaid for a service that was unsanitary, and uncomfortable. I wont be back.... and when my friends try to recommend Toppers, I will tell them everything.

It was okBy AlexandraT | January 8, 2010
My boyfriend and I had a couples massage there, it was nice I think I expected more. There wasn't a jacuzzi or steam room like I assumed there would be so that was a disappointment. The massage therapist were great and the atmosphere was nice.
