  Located a half hour from central London, The Grove sits on 300 acres of lush, private parkland and woodland in Hertfordshire, England. The 227-room property, named the U.K.'s "Best Leisure Hotel" by Condé Nast Traveller in 2007, provides a sophisticated ambience in a country setting.

  Once the former residence of a British nobleman, the hotel grounds feature two tennis courts, croquet lawn, a stretch of beach with volleyball court, and a walled garden surrounding an outdoor swimming pool and gazebo. The 18-hole golf course hosted the 2006 World Golf Championships.

  Inside, antique furnishings mingle with modern art, while dining options vary from classic to contemporary cuisine. At the triple Rosette–awarded Collete's, guests can dine on modern cuisine in the elegantly restored 18th-century dining room.
