Bahia Beat: Brazilian Dance Workout
Bahia Beats is a Brazilian Dance Workout with Julio & Julia. It is a trip through the streets of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. You learn popular dances of the people of Brazil including samba reggae, samba, pagodge da Bahia, arrocha and samba afro. The class starts with warm up and stretching. We get the body moving with isolations and then break down the basics to get warmed up. We learn steps from the different styles of Brazilian street dance going across the floor. We do simple routines to the songs the way they are done in Brazil - sometimes called "Swing Bahia". The class finishes up with a cool-down and some stretches. We do our best to make you feel like you are in Brazil for the duration of the class, so come dance work out and have fun with us! |

Beginner Belly Dance
This class is designed for people who are completely new to belly dance. It will cover all the basic belly dance movements and will provide you with a strong foundation in belly dance with an emphasis on correct technique and posture. You will receive patient instruction and you will be encouraged to go at a pace that feels comfortable for you. This class is suitable for all ages, sizes and skill levels. There is always an atmosphere of support and encouragement with an emphasis on FUN and enjoying the movements. This class is offered as a four-week series which will start on the first Monday of every month. Although the rhythm is essential to any capoeirsta, the song unites the players as one.Capoeira regional is ultimately a game played in a circle.This is called roda. Eight essential attack and defense movements were developed by Mestre Bimba in order to prepare the capoeirsta for the roda. This is called the sequence, or sequence, and is the basis for capoeira regional. In this game there is no score and there is no declared winner or loser.Capoeira is an evolution where each participant is encouraged to do what they can. Willingness to try and learn is the skill. All participants start and continue with different abilities. This is the beauty of capoeira. What may take one capoeirsta one day to accomplish may take another one year. |

Capoeira-All Levels
Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art that combines fight, dance, music and acrobatic movements. Classes are 90 minutes of intense aerobic exercise involving the endless movements of the Martial Art. Capoeira is a group activity but the development of the techniques are individual, so each student will progress at their own rate.A beginner student will learn the basic movements of Capoeira: attack, defense and how to move comfortably in the Capoeira game. As the student progresses they will learn combinations of sequences as well start to build their acrobatics skills. The involvement of music is crucial to the art of Capoeira. While the student learns how to manuevere around the roda (circle) they will also learn the rhythms and songs that drive the game. |
