We offer a nice range of Hip Hop dance styles along with Jazz dance, Modern, Salsa, Cardio, Zumba, African styles, Vogue and Fusion styles. We have children's class as well as teen and adults.HistoryNew Style Motherlode Studio first open in 2001, in a upscale neighborhood in Oakland called "Rockridge". Over the years NSM brought new energy, new vibes, new people, and new life to the neighborhood and quickly became a dominant presence to the area and begin out growing the space in the historical Masonic Lodge Building. In 2011 NSM closed it's doors in the Rockridge neighborhood and moved to a bigger location just blocks away for it's original home. Contemporary
Thanks to the popularity of So You Think You Can Dance, "Contemporary" is a style being frequently requested by dancers for technical training. It's an emotionally expressive style that calls on elements of hip-hop, modern, liturgical and jazz. NSM's large studio invites the leaps, jumps, turns and sweeping floor-work that Contemporary Technique class calls for. Sarah's class structure conditions dancers though a progression of "building block" movement phrases to develop the correct alignment needed to execute new "tricks" safely, culminating in a final phrase of choreography. Participants will be given corrections to improve their technique and pushed to develop their performance skills and movement quality as well. This class is geared toward intermediate or intermediate/advanced students and professional dancers, but everyone is welcome and encouraged to check it out. Come prepared to give your all and enjoy the music! |
