About Yoga for Life
Yoga has the potential to provide a pathway that connects body, mind and spirit for young and old, fit and physically challenged. That potential is often not achieved because an individual pathway into yoga is not created for the practitioner. Yoga can seem daunting to the unskilled practitioner who jumps into a class and is immediately asked to do a difficult posture. Yoga for Life is committed to providing individualized guidance on your personal yoga path. We offer classes in all skill levels and schedule them to provide continuity of instruction and allow for individual help. Specialized classes include Prenatal, Chair Yoga and 55+ Gentle. We also offer in-depth weekend workshops to enrich your practice. We take you wherever you are and guide you on your journey, helping you feel safe and comfortable in your body. We honor the traditions of yoga, emphasizing the total experience, including the spiritual aspects. Each class includes a brief meditation, breathing techniques, body alignment and details of the postures, closing with a rejuvenating relaxation. Guided by caring and experienced teachers, our students begin to discover their own unique selves... feeling a sense of community.Location

Pranakriya - Meditative Posture
The MEDITATIVE POSTURE workshop is led with a balance of stretching and strengthening and is intended to have an internal focus. All Pranayamas may be used, and warm-ups and Kriyas are followed by postures. Postures may be led with long holding times and a focus on deep breathing. This class is most appropriate for students who have learned the basic postures and are comfortable doing them with their eyes closed. Participation in these classes will be safe if the student can listen to her body and both make adjustments to go deeper into stretches, and back off or come out of the posture if the body starts to strain. The teacher is in both the nurturing and coaching role. |

Half-Day Meditation Retreat
Have you ever approached the conclusion of a meditation period with a sense of disappointment that it was ending? Have you promised yourself to give meditation practice a higher priority in your life, but not yet succeeded in making it happen? An afternoon of concentrated practice could prove helpful, with alternating periods of sitting and walking meditation. Make time to connect with your heart’s deepest intention. [Special Note] Although the Online Registration description identifies the price of this workshop as $1, the workshop is actually being offered on a "dana" basis. In the Buddhist tradition, dana means that participants make voluntary contributions based upon their individual leading to give back in response to what they feel they have received. |

Hula Hoop for Fun!
The hula-hooping we did as children has evolved into a deeper practice with roots in Eastern philosophy, yoga and circus arts. When we hoop, we open up all of our chakras, from root to crown. We also tone and sculpt our bodies, using arms, hands, legs and core. Whether you are a beginner or a master, this workshop will offer the experience of hooping to all participants. We will approach hooping as both meditation and physical practice. Basic movements will emphasize balance and coordination and we’ll work up quite a sweat as we move into flow and hoop dance. Like yoga, hooping is a gateway to challenging yourself, discovering and uncovering your true spirit and simply having fun. |
