The Yoga Center of Minneapolis serves as a community center for a variety of yoga styles. We offer Beginning yoga, Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Para, Anusara, Big A%#!, Pre- & Postnatal, Tantric Meditation classes and more. In addition, YCM offers weekend workshops, a 230-hour teacher training program, and advanced trainings. Mats and props available for use free of charge. Inside YCM, Dharma Spa & Wellness offers various bodywork and healing modalities, acupuncture, ayurvedic yoga, and skin therapies. Yin Yoga
Yin yoga is a form of Chinese yoga and works the six major meridians from the navel to the knees, this strengthens the immune system while stretching the connective tissue to release chronic held tension. A 75-minute balanced Taoist-based practice that incorporates movement and stillness within a challenging but welcoming setting. Ashtanga Primary Series
For students who have taken Beginning Ashtanga or are comfortable in a vinyasa flow class and want a challenge. An instructor will lead you through the traditional Primary Series as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Ashtanga is distinct in that the postures or asanas are connected to one another by a flowing series of movements called vinyasa. Kundalini
Kundalini Yoga can help relieve stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, back pain, past trauma and current drama. Yin/Vinyasa (Yang)
A 75-minute balanced Taoist-based practice that incorporates movement and stillness within a challenging but welcoming setting. The first 30 minutes of practice will feature a quiet, intense Yin practice of postures held longer periods for deeper stretching in the ligaments, joints, and connective tissue. This will be followed by 35 minutes of Vinyasa (Yang) moving practice working on strength, energy, and movement with inversions, heart and hip openers. Class will close with a supported restorative pose and svasana for full integration of the yin and yang. |

Ashtanga Primary Series
For students who have taken Beginning Ashtanga or are comfortable in a vinyasa flow class and want a challenge. An instructor will lead you through the traditional Primary Series as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Ashtanga is distinct in that the postures or asanas are connected to one another by a flowing series of movements called vinyasa. This powerful and vigorous practice purifies and realigns the body clearing energy channels blocked by years of stress and arouses the internal fire helping to cleanse, detoxify and strengthen the body. The Jivamukti Yoga method is a style of Yoga created by David Life and Sharon Gannon in 1984. It is a vigorously physical and intellectually stimulating practice leading to spiritual awareness.
