About Kurotel Medical Center for Longevity and Spa
Located amongst hydrangea blooms in Gramado in Southern Brazil, the Kurotel Longevity Center and Spa offers guests a peaceful mountainside sanctuary. The full-service getaway, opened by a physician and his wife in 1982, offers treatment programs inspired by the European Kur tradition, which focuses on preventative and rehabilitative medicine. The Kur Water Station and Spa focuses on the healing properties of water therapies, as well as health and beauty treatments that incorporate the Kur Cosmetics product line; the Kurotel's Stress Control Center provides relaxing therapy for the mind.
The family-friendly destination serves healthy Brazilian cuisine in its dining room, often to the accompaniment of live music. Between meals and spa services, guests can test their fitness on the tennis courts or in the indoor and outdoor pools. A scenic hiking trail leads to a nearby lake. For relaxation, guests can meander around the garden, stroll through the informative Kur Museum, or enjoy a lecture at the indoor amphitheater.

Surrounded by the sanctuary's sumptuous grounds, the bi-level Kur Water Station and Spa offers treatments for the body, while the separate high-tech Stress Control Center offers soothing treatments for the mind. The latter is equipped with relaxation-promoting and monitoring machines that measure brain waves and balance levels of cortisol, serotonin, and adrenaline, giving guests the tools to learn to control stress levels on their own.
In the spa's 18 treatment rooms, massage, exfoliation, and facial services are performed often using products prepared by the onsite cosmetics company; the water station houses an additional 18 wet treatment rooms and a swimming pool. Wellness experts facilitate programs such as smoking cessation, weight loss, the acupressure-based Cellular Revitalization Treatment, or Kinder Kur, a fitness and diet regimen for new mothers. While infants are part of the Kinder Kur program, the minimum age for treatments at the spa is 12. The fully equipped fitness studio has exercise machines and also offers yoga and Pilates classes, among others. Guests can also enjoy nutritious cuisine at the spa's café.

Facilities & Amenities
Guests at Kurotel can find an activity to suit any interest or mood. A short walk will take visitors to the property's burgeoning garden or to the Water Path: a shallow, cool sidewalk of water that stimulates the feet and aids circulation. Those with athletic pursuits can try out the tennis courts, and a dip in the sauna can top off an afternoon of swimming at one of the two pools.
A nearby shopping center is accessible to guests who seek a retail diversion, and trips to local vineyards, waterfalls, and scenic vistas can also be arranged. In the evenings, movies are often shown in the 60-person amphitheater, which also hosts lectures and discussions. For guests who want to cuddle up with a book and a cup of tea, a library is available.
Rooms & Dining
Accommodations include 35 apartments and suites housed in the main lodge area. The suites, which are generally larger than the apartments, are located in a private area with its own dining room, snack bar, and bodywork facilities. The rooms come in several different arrangements, from the grandiose Imperial Suite, which has a private bathroom of marble, to Junior Suites, which are made cozy by the warm light of fireplaces. The interior design matches the exterior: Classical Colonial styling with a color palate of soft whites and creams with wood.
A chef prepares seven colorful meals daily, using fresh ingredients grown on the grounds and local produce and proteins. The specially designed Kur Longevity Diet is available for all guests, and recommended for those suffering from diabetes, high cholesterol, or hypertension. Guests following kosher or vegetarian diets can be accommodated as well. While most meals are enjoyed in the dining room, snacks are available poolside. Visitors who would like to take home a taste of the spa cuisine have three Kurotel cookbooks from which to choose.
