Originally developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates as a rehabilitation method, the popularity of this core-strengthening and spine-aligning workout has since spread around the world like wildfire. The practice, often called the Pilates method, is meant to improve mental and physical wellbeing, increase flexibility, and strengthen muscles through a series of controlled movements and breathing that engage both the body and mind. Different studios offer a variety of classes, and we’re excited to be partnering with this Pilates studio. Core Barre
Core Barre integrates the fat-burning format of interval training with muscle-shaping isometrics to quickly and safely reshape the entire body. It is non-impact and targets all major muscle groups while improving posture. The result is sculpted arms, flat abs, a lifted seat and elongated thighs. Pilates uses machines and mat work to re-align the core muscles group by working the smaller muscle groups. Core Barre uses the body's own weight to isolate, strengthen and sculpt all of the body's major muscle groups. |

Introduction to Equipment
A beginning approach to Pilates equipment for those who have little or no experience. This class will introduce you to the three major pieces of equipment we use at Pilates on Highland, Tower, Reformer, and Chair. Please register in advance by emailing pilatesfrontdesk@bellsouth.net or calling 323-5961. Wear comfortable clothing, no shoes necessary. |
