Originally developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates as a rehabilitation method, the popularity of this core-strengthening and spine-aligning workout has since spread around the world like wildfire. The practice, often called the Pilates method, is meant to improve mental and physical wellbeing, increase flexibility, and strengthen muscles through a series of controlled movements and breathing that engage both the body and mind. This wonderful practice will leave you feeling refreshed, at peace, and yet energized.The term Yoga Nidra is derived from ancient Eastern teachings of Swami Sivananda, described as a technique of meditation in which one learns to relax consciously.During the practice of Yoga Nidra you may appear asleep, yet the conscious mind is functioning at a deep level of awareness. Stimulating the subconscious and the unconscious parts of the mind help develop memory, creativity, increase knowledge, health, relieve stress, and relax you mentally and physically.We will do some lite stretching to start and then begin the meditation. It can be done lying down or in a seated posture. Wear comfortable, loose clothing and feel free to bring a wrap or shawl. Please bring a yoga mat, if you have one.
