Sacred Motion is a movement celebration open to dancers of all experience levels as well as newcomers. We start with a gentle guided warm-up to ground us in our bodies and continue on an individual movement exploration. While dancing, the group is encouraged to stay aware and connect with each other as inspired. We move to music spanning different genres and tempos (dance beats, world music, etc) designed to inspire different ways of moving. This class will combine the best of Iyengar style alignment principles and the breath and flow of Vinyasa classes. Students will be guided through a practice that incorporates important structural alignment along with movement through postures that help to lubricate joints and build muscle tone. Working in this way allows students to enjoy the opening aspects of movement but will give them a strong foundation to stay safe and healthy in other, more vigorous flow classes.
