• About Yoga Shala of Portland

    Yoga Shala of Portland is a unique center for yoga and related studies, offering a wide range of classes, events and courses for all levels of yoga practitioners. We are here to support the practice of yoga in Portland with a dedicated group of teachers and to preserve the knowledge and practices passed down through the various yoga traditions. Our teachers are committed to bringing the practice of yoga to the student in both an authentic and accessible way. Yoga Shala is conveniently located on Portland's East Side in the North Williams neighborhood. We offer classes, courses, workshops with world-class teachers, music events, private instruction, and a comprehensive Teacher Training & Advanced Studies Program. ShalaKids Child Care & Yoga provides childcare and children's yoga classes seven days a week. The Shala Shop carries eco-conscious clothing, yoga props and books. Yoga Shala Wellness offers a wide range of healing modalities that support and encourage our clients on their own unique journeys of holistic health – including preventive medicine, harmonizing bodywork and wellness education.

Come give yourself some time to be in your body and still be with your baby. Yoga poses, breath work, stretching, and core strengthening are taught to reclaim your postpartum body, mind and spirit. This class also offers a community of other new mothers for support and information. All are welcome; experience with pre-natal yoga here or anywhere else is not a prerequisite for attendance. Shadow Yoga Level 2 (Prelude Practice)

This class if for students familiar with Shadow Yoga (having taken Basic Shadow courses or Immersions). It is best to attend both Tue./Thur. classes all month. This is a led prelude class, working to develop greater understanding and proficency within the prelude itself. We will also be practicing basic seated asana work.

Working with a more flow oriented practice, beginners are guided through various sequences to increase stamina, strength, and flexibility. Learn and practice the basic asanas (postures). Also a great class for those who prefer a slower paced Vinyasa class. Fundamentals of alignment and breathing are explored. New students are welcome.

Restorative Yoga

Works with supported poses, pranayama and meditation for stress reduction and inner stillness. Using yoga props (blankets, straps) to ease you into yoga postures. These restorative poses are great for relaxing the mind and body and recharging the immune system. Slowing your pace down is so important these days, and this class allows for just that. All levels welcome.
