About Gideon Putnam Resort, The
Surrounded by acres of state parkland, the Gideon Putnam Resort is a historic Georgian-Revival-style mansion in the heart of Saratoga Springs. The name of the town, stemming from the Iroquois word Sarachtogoe, or place of swift water, reflects the area's illustrious mineral waters. Originally built in 1935, the Gideon Putnam helped popularize 'taking the waters,' and remains faithful to this tradition with its 43-treatment room Roosevelt Baths & Spa. The 19,000-square-foot spa facility is green certified, with established eco-conscious practices such as a water conservation program in place.
The resort is situated in the 2,300-acre Saratoga Spa State Park, a national historic landmark district, where guests can stay entertained with a wide range of activities. Enclosed within the park are eight tennis courts, two golf courses, two outdoor swimming pools, two ice-skating rinks, and cross-country skiing and snow shoeing trails.

Guests of Gideon Putnam can enjoy a lovely 15-minute walk across the park to reach the Roosevelt Baths & Spa. Traditionally constructed as a bathhouse, the 19,000-square-foot spa offers 43 private rooms with bathtubs to experience the resort's signature effervescent mineral baths, heated at 97° F. After a soak, guests can complement their spa experience with treatments like the Poppy Pear Micro Derm Polisher, an anti-aging, breakout-prevent facial, or the Roosevelt's Choice massage, which combines various massage techniques based upon the guest's needs.
The services menu is made up of massage, facials, salt and sugar scrubs, herbal mud and algae wraps, and hair and nail care. A steam room is also on site.

- Gideon Putnam Hotel is 35 minutes from Albany International Airport and is a four-hour drive on the New York Thruway from New York City. It is also 30 minutes from the Albany/Rennsaelear Amtrak station.
- Guests must be 16 years or older to access the spa; adult supervision is required.

- Saratoga Springs offers four distinct seasons. Spring and autumn can be quite lovely, with average high temperatures of approximately 50° F and 54° F, respectively. Summers are warm, reaching an annual high of about 81° F, and winters are cold, with ample snow and high temps of 30° F.

Gideon's 120 guest accommodations are tastefully decorated with dark woods, period furniture, and rich upholsteries in a style traditional to the Georgian Era. Deluxe Rooms and Parlor Suites provide views of the Saratoga Spa State Park, while Porch Suites, located on the first through third floors, have large French doors that open onto a screen porch also overlooking the park. Modern conveniences include wireless Internet access, cable TV, and in-room data ports.
The hotel's restaurant, Putnam's Restaurant and Bar, serves regional cuisine in an elegant atmosphere, embellished with murals painted in 1939 by artist James Reynolds. Guests can savor meals like braised lamb shank and roast maple leaf farm duck in the indoor dining room or dine on the patio, enjoying park vistas. A four-season vacation spot, Gideon Putnam provides additional opportunities to hike, play tennis, sled ride, ice skate, and cross-country ski.
