Yoga for Children - $10/child

Children love yoga. They love the movement and creative expression associated with the poses (called yoga asanas). They appreciate the benefits and they cherish the opportunity to "rest" at the end of each class. The movements are organic. The asanas are modeled after appealing animals and elements - lions, snakes, rivers and trees. This naturally makes the practice engaging for children when presented in a dynamic way. A childrens' yoga class typically features stories, games, animal sounds and laughter. This all adds up to the most important element - fun!Their enjoyment of the classes would be reason enough to teach yoga to children - but the benefits go far beyond. Yoga can give children the ability to:•Develop strength, flexibility and coordination - of both body and mind•Improve focus•Raise self-awareness•Build self-esteem•Release stress•Relax completely•Breathe well •Cultivate healthy habits•Generate a sense of inner peace and contentment they can share with the worldThese benef

Jivamukti Spiritual Warrior class is a set vinyasa-style sequence which includes chanting, an asana warm up, sun salutations, standing poses, forward bends, twists, back bends, inversions, relaxation, and meditation. This is a moderately rigorous practice, which gives the practitioner both the feeling of workout satisfaction but also a sense of relaxation and meditation.Jivamukti is a Sanskrit word meaning “liberation while living”. Jivamukti Yoga is one of the nine internationally recognized styles of Hatha Yoga. Its distinct style weaves together the physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of Yoga to form a deep and holistic experience on the mat. Each Jivamukti class offers an invigorating form of vinyasa (flow) practice that is infused with inspiring teachings derived from the ancient Yogic texts, music, breath work, chanting, meditation and relaxation. Some Yoga experience is recommended to attend drop in Jivamukti classes but adventuresome beginners are always welcome.

I have been going to Downtown Yoga Shala for just about two years. It is very clean and I love this place. They have incredible instructors that really care about the integrity of their work. I truly appreciate the willingness to aid participants in correct breathing and forms and how the coaching is gentle yet it encourages opening one's self up to new levels of practice and fitness. This staff is helpful and courteous. Hope to see you there!
