Restorative Yin Yoga
Unwind and release tension with a soft Yin practice. Yin yoga works deeply into the connective tissues (ligaments, tendons, cartilage and fascia), in order to heal joints and increase flexibility. Positions are held for a longer period of time. This practice includes shoulder openers, postures that lengthen the muscles surrounding hips, pelvis, lower back, twists and long holds on forward bends to restore energy and calm the nervous system. When we hold onto tightness in our body, this only increases the body’s stress response. The essence of a Yin class is to release effort and to surrender: opening up and letting go shifts the stress loop so that we experience a free flow of life-force or prana throughout the body. This is a room temperature class. |
