  The Langham, London, christened Europe's first 'Grand Hotel' upon its opening in 1865 by HRH The Prince of Wales, resides in London's West End, just minutes from premier shopping, museums, theaters and landmarks. The five-star hotel, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World collection, offers 380 guest rooms and suites; classically designed accommodations are complemented by the Roux at The Landau French restaurant, the chicly exotic Artesian bar and the restored Palm Court, a celebrated spot for afternoon tea since the hotel's inauguration.

  The Langham also brings the Chuan Spa brand's first location in Europe. Set inside a former bank, the spa's setting is as inimitable as its menu of signature and Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments. Wellness options also include the city's first salt sauna, an indoor pool housed in the original bank's vault and a fitness center outfitted with Technogym equipment and plasma TVs.

Drawing energy from Traditional Chinese Medicine to awaken body, mind and spirit, the Chuan Spa, London, is the first hotel spa in the city to incorporate these ancient principles into treatments and decor. Initially a bank, the spa has preserved some of the building’s original architecture, modeling a mosaic-tiled pool in the original bank vault, while incorporating a modern, Zen-like feel that appeals to sophisticated spa-goers of today. There are six treatment rooms, including a couple’s VIP suite, along with a steam room, sauna and salt sauna, which is also the first of its kind in London.

Customized holistic treatment plans are devoted to the five elements and include signature Chuan massage, hydrotherapy and body treatments, Babor and Thalgo facials and TCM rituals like cupping, moxibustion and acupuncture. Guests are encouraged to begin their spa experience with the Chuan Tri-Bathing Ritual, starting with a steam or sauna session followed by a cold shower and concluding with a soak in the vitality pool.

The 380 guest rooms and suites combine classic and contemporary interiors, with decorative accents that pay homage to two celebrated performers and hotel guests: actor and comedian Peter Sellers and violinist and conductor Yehudi Menuhin. Accessories include 32-inch flat-screen TVs, cable and satellite access, Bose CD players, complimentary Internet access and tea- and coffee-making services.

The Roux at The Landau headlines the culinary experience at The Langham, London. Diners arrive through a vaulted limestone-and-glass wine corridor, which opens to a spacious venue fashioned in banquette seating, a row of bay windows, gilded timber wall paneling, antique brass chandeliers and silk Chinoiserie screens. Adding to the sophisticated ambience is modern French fare, elegantly served on Vera Wang chinaware or porcelain dishware by Bernardaud. The refined Palm Court, where the revered tradition of afternoon tea originated more than 140 years prior and is still practiced, serves light dishes, while Artesian bar, with its exotic Asian-style design, is popular for a pre-dinner drink or nightcap.
