Get ready to sweat! Mike and Mariah team up to teach a Yoga "asana" class inspired by Beryl Bender Birch's compassionate take on Ashtanga Yoga. The class will include "sun salutations", forward folding postures from the primary series of Ashtanga and backbending (with compassion) from the second series of Ashtanga. The goal of our teaching will be to give individual attention and hands on adjustmments. We want to help every person find the postures with respect to the physical limitations that exist within YOUR body. Two teachers allows for modifications to be taught so all injuries/ can be respected and yet the class can continue to flow. Each modification, with practice and patience, will eventually lead to a deeper expression the posture for each practioner. With more "teaching" eyes on your knees, hips, hands and backs we will help you draw attention to alignment issues and develop a safe yoga practice. This vigorous "asana" class is inspired by Beryl Bender Birch's compassionate take on Ashtanga Yoga. Some Yoga experience is recommended. Be prepared to sweat, come well hydrated, with an empty belly. The room will be heated to 75-80 degree's. The class will include "sun salutations", forward folding postures from the primary series of Ashtanga and backbending (with compassion) from the second series of Ashtanga. The goal of the teaching will be to give individual attention and hands on adjustmments. Each modification, with practice and patience, will eventually lead to a deeper expression the posture for each practioner. Warm Stretch and Restore

Unwind your body in this warm, easy going, lighthearted stretch. Class will start with a gentle warm-up focusing on core, leg and back warmth in preparation for stretching. Then we will do a series of stretches for the shoulders, hips, legs and back (requests will also be taken!) In closing, bolsters and props will be customized to each individualized needs for a supported relaxation....let your body melt away aches, pains and tension. Accommodations can be made for all levels of flexibility (chairs, blocks, bolsters and walls are available for use!) No experience needed!

In this vigorous Kripalu class students will be offered a short centering and pranayama (breath work,) followed by some pratapana movements (techniques to warm up and loosen the spine.) For the bulk of the class we will work an intense Asana sequence inspired from Ashtanga, Kripalu and Vinyasa traditions. Weaving through sun salutations, flows, holds, and balances, this class will be both vigorous and demanding with an emphasis on core strength and posture.
