Simply elegant with an airy feel, the Spa at Travaasa Hana provides a tranquil oasis to the island resort. A lava-rock whirlpool and tropical garden courtyard overlooking Hana Bay capture the spa’s laidback yet stylish feel, and tastefully appointed locker areas with steam rooms, cold plunge pools and indoor/outdoor showers add a lovely touch. Before or after treatments, guests can sip herbal tea and savor fresh fruit in the relaxation lounge.
Rounding out the spa experience are a medley of healing wellness services that use indigenous plants, minerals and water. Taken in one of nine treatment rooms, rituals include clay body and algae wraps, purifying (ho’oma’ema’e), hydrating (ho’opahe’e), firming (ho’omālena) and replenishing (ho’opiha) facials, and massage modalities such as Swedish, lomilomi, prenatal (hāpai), pōhaku wela hot stone and aquatic renewal therapy. Gentleman spa-goers are welcome with a separate menu of skincare, body treatments and foot rituals. The spa also offers several meditation and spiritual awareness classes each week.

Facilities & Amenities
With the shimmering azure sea in the distance, Travaasa Hana provides guests with a full range of inspired activities that make for a memorable destination experience. The 12,000-square-foot fitness center hosts classes like yoga, outdoor circuit, Pilates, Barre and martial arts, or guests can exercise by taking traditional hula lessons, led by one of the resort’s cultural guides, or kumu. Ten miles of guided trails invite hikers of all skill levels to trek amid elements such as the Waipāuma coastline, and adventurists can test their abilities in an archery lesson or on the outdoor challenge course. Tour leaders, or alaka’i, lead guests along the Maui slopes and plains via horseback, or visitors can participate in the signature equine program, a profound experience that encourages deep connection and sensitivity. The day can also be spent partaking in culinary classes (nutrition & tasting series and cooking skills & techniques) and swimming, whether in one of the two pools or in the surf, with snorkeling, canoeing and paddleboarding. Hawaiian “throw net” fishing immerses guests in island traditions as well.
Hamao Beach, noted as one of the best in the world, is just three miles from the resort, and well-known sightseeing attractions like Ka‘leku Caverns, the Pools of ‘Ohe‘o Gulch and Wai‘anapanapa State Park are within close proximity.

Rooms & Dining
Guests can choose between the spacious, family friendly Garden Suites (600 square feet) or the all-inclusive, adults-only Sea Ranch Cottages (1,000 square feet). Accommodations are free of radios, clocks and TVs to emphasize complete relaxation and solitude, and, instead, sport organic linens, fresh fruit and locally sourced bath products. Suites feature indoor and outdoor sitting areas, while cottages boast oceanfront bedrooms and private lanais, some of which have outdoor hot tubs.
Diners are in for an authentic, bountiful treat at the resort’s signature restaurant, under the direction of Executive Chef Barry Villiarimo. Ka‘uiki serves “Hana Fusion,” celebrating ocean-to-table and fresh organic fare sourced from Hāna and the island of Maui. Dishes — Lilikoi Mahi, Pohole Fern Shoot Salad and Ti Leaves-Wrapped Fish — blend Asian and Old World European cuisine with a Polynesian flair, and are prepared with ingredients, including taro, breadfruit and coconut milk, that are inspired by native Hawaiian living.
The restaurant can cater to vegetarian and vegan diets.
