Restorative Yoga
Relieve stress by relaxing deeply in supported yoga poses designed to quiet the brain and move the body toward balance. Restorative yoga creates specific physiological responses, which benefit health and may reduce effects of stress-related diseases. This is an excellent practice for healthy people, as well as those suffering from stress or illness, or recovering from illness or injury.A series of restorative yoga poses, supported by a combination of bolsters, blankets, blocks, straps, sandbags, and eye pillows, are enhanced with breath awareness, meditative body scan, and Reiki, creating a state of relaxation within the individual. Remaining in a restorative pose enables the parasympathetic nervous system to quiet the sympathetic nervous system (the fight or flight response naturally in place in the body in times of stess), allowing for muscle relaxation and a state of calm. |
