Yoga: Caring Yoga
Caring Yoga will lead each student to a deeper understanding of his or her own body. The course introduces students to practical ways to improve mobility. Props will be used to make poses more accessible and enjoyable. The practice will be modified to meet each student’s personal physical abilities. The classes serve as a gentle guide towards enhanced balance, increased strength and greater flexibility. All sessions end with a deep relaxation. Warm-up movements will remain the same, allowing students the comfort of a familiar routine as an entry point into each week's focus. Topics covered will include focus on the feet, the hips, the core, shoulders, moving the spine and finding balance. “The beginning is always today.” — Mary Wollstonecraft For more information, please contact Janci Butler, the instructor, at jbutler@fridacenter.com. Yoga: Yoga for Myofascial Release
Yin Yoga is a slow Yoga practice, where teacher and students work together to set up a supported stance in each pose (with blankets and props), to allow the student to slowly and gradually release into the postures. By doing this, students can allow gravity to do the work of gradually stretching the muscles and the fascia. While the body is supported, the student can turn her/his attention to the mental side of release and relaxation. Each class starts with a brief check-in and philosophy point to consider, then continues with breath practice, Yin Yoga movement, and finally supported relaxation. For more information, please contact EB Ferdig, the instructor, at ebferdig@fridacenter.com. |
