Shine On!: A Twisting Workshop to Detox and Nourish
Feeling the heaviness of summer sluggishness in your body? Refresh, recharge and nourish your inner body with an increasingly deepening practice of twists, hip openers and gentle backbends.Twisting tones your spine by strengthening your back muscles, supports your low back by stabilizing your pelvis and opens your heart as a bonus.Twisting is magic. Staying healthy between seasons is essential, so keeping your inner body and internal organs hydrated with an increased flow of dynamic movement is necessary to stave off the heavy, stuck feeling that the heat and humidity of summer increase within us.In addition to the de-gunking the twists will provide, we’ll also do a little pranayama and a seated meditation at the end of our practice to focus our intention on restoring the glow to our bodies from the inside out. So to help our bodies detox, we go inside to the resource of our own power and return more radiant, more healthy and with greater vitality than ever before. All levels are welcome. |

Intro to Rocket Yoga
Rocket was created in the 1980s by Larry Shultz, a California-based instructor known as the “bad man of Ashtanga” for his habit of skipping ahead in the series. Some of his earliest students were members of the band the Grateful Dead, and it was musician Bob Weir who came up with a name for the practice. It caught on in San Francisco at Shultz’s studio and at affiliated studios around the globe. In this workshop expect: An intense, vigorous, set sequence based on Ashtanga Yoga. Postures taken from the Ashtanga Primary Series in Rocket 1 are then incorporated with more advanced asana from the Second and Third Ashtanga Series in Rocket 2 and 3. Expect a strong standing series, incorporating arm balances and inversions followed by a seated postures followed by backbends, handstands and the Ashtanga finishing series. More intermediate to advanced postures will be offered. Open to all levels, a fundamental knowledge of yoga strongly encouraged. |

Find Your Flow: Strengthen Your Vinyasa Practice
A vinyasa practice is often associated with a more aerobic or vigorous style of practicing yoga, but at its roots, vinyasa is a practice of intelligent movement. The main component of this practice is the way we learn to transition smoothly from pose to pose, guided by the breath. The purpose of this workshop is to facilitate an internal movement from breath into body that allows us to gracefully, as well as powerfully move from pose to pose. This is the same quality of breath that we seek when we are navigating the rougher currents in life—how do we transition with ease when life becomes challenging? The more we tap into our own internal rhythms, the more skillfully we can make choices in times of stress. We will also focus on the strength building properties of the vinyasa practice, found in the many plank-chatturanga transitions that increase power in the upper back, upper arms and core. As you flow from one pose to another, cultivate the qualities of steadiness and ease in your body that will translate to confidence and calm in the challenging moments off your mat. |

Donation Based Meditation for Project Haiti
In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali defines yoga as “yogah citta vritti nirodhah”—that is, yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind.Meditation is the yogic path toward cultivating stillness of mind allowing us to live more fully in present awareness and being.Similar to our yoga asana practice, meditation is an art and science that requires steadfast practice (abhyasa) and non-attachment or the willingness to let go (vairagya). In this class, you will be given the sacred time and space to develop a meditation practice and have the opportunity to learn different meditation techniques to guide you on this journey toward inner peace and joy. This is a donation-based class benefiting Project Haiti—a ground-breaking trauma-informed recovery program offering the healing practices of yoga, meditation, and mindfulness for female survivors of sexual and other violence living in the tent cities of Port-au-Prince.
