Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a complementary yoga practice to the more dynamic and invigorating yoga styles (astanga, vinyasa, hatha) that are predominant today. In Yin Yoga, floor postures are held passively for several minutes in order to access a safe and positive 'stress' on the deep layers of connective tissue in the body. Physically, Yin Yoga restores and maintains the natural mobility of the joints, primarily between the navel and the knees. Energetically, Yin Yoga opens the body's meridian system, which enhances the body's energetic flow and supports emotional equilibrium. And as this practice emphasizes stillness and silence, Yin Yoga prepares both the body and the mind for deeper experiences in meditation. |

Chakra Basics with Props
For newcomers to yoga or those interested in deepening their practice. Instruction in appropriate physical actions, alignment and breathwork serve to develop strength, and flexibility, breath awareness, energy flow and focused attention. This practice will make use of various Iyengar-style props & techniques to support the physical experience and exploration of the chakras. Chakras are described as metaphysical, psychoenergetic vortices of energy that define the various aspects, qualities and actions of prana (vital air) in the body; there are seven such 'wheels' of energy threaded like beads on a string connecting the base of our spine to the crown of the head. The practices of hatha yoga are effective because they strengthen the flow of prana in our bodies invigorating the current so it carries away obstructions and toxins that block the free flow of energy. Enjoy! |

Flow Yoga
Flow yoga, also known as vinyasa, is the practice of synergizing breath with movement as a way of engaging dynamically with what is. It is, simply put, the practice of awareness in action: Observing what you are doing as you are doing it, what is going on as it is going on, and staying present with the sensations and feelings and thoughts and breath as they come and go. The simple act of paying attention to what comes up in practice has the effect of shifting and changing the nature of that which arises in our awareness.
