About Augustine Hotel

With its 13th-century structural design, the award-winning Augustine Hotel is a vision of architectural beauty along the south bank of Prague. The UNESCO-protected hotel and its full-service spa were restored from seven historic buildings, including the adjacent Augustinian St. Thomas Monastery, from which the hotel’s name is derived. Spa Augustine mirrors the property’s aura of sophisticated calm, with enticements such as a hammam treatment room and a menu mingling classic and luxury services like caviar facials.

Guest accommodations have marble bathrooms and inspiring views across the city’s rooftops; intriguing in its own right is the Brewery Bar, which features 17th-century stalactite- and stalagmite-infused interiors, along with the celebrated St. Thomas Beer, brewed by Augustinian monks on the monastery’s premises.

Menus of Services / Classes

The Augustine Spa was fashioned to reflect a feeling of calm: Treatments, or ancient recipes taken from the Augustinian order of monks, reveal the pure simplicity of nature’s elements, and the minimalist feel (gray, brass and white interiors accented by a few sculptures) echoes the gentleness and solitude evocative of the monastery to which the hotel is attached. Meditative moments can be spent in the relaxation room, and spa-goers also have access to a Finnish sauna, a color- and aromatherapy-infused steam room and experience showers. Treatment rooms total five, including a couple’s room and hammam room, as well as two manicure stations. The holistic menu of services includes the signature St. Thomas Beer Body Ritual, an all-natural scrub-and-massage ritual using beer brewed at the monastery.

Use of spa facilities is complimentary to hotel guests; day spa entry and spa packages are available for non guests.

Excellent in every way
Two friends and I had the opportunity to visit the Augustine Spa during a trip to Prague. It was a wonderful experience. Services and staff are excellent. It is a great way to relax after a day of touring and an overseas flight.

Facilities & Amenities

Prague, known as the “City of 100 Spires,” offers an abundance of architecture and history to take in, and Augustine Hotel’s concierge is happy to help arrange excursion and tours. The hotel’s location in the heart of the Baroque-style, cobblestone street-lined Mala Strana puts guests within a short stroll of the city’s commercial district and political landmarks like the Czech Parliament, Senate and embassies. Those new to the area may also want to head to the nearby sites of Prague Castle, the Wallenstein Garden and the Old Town Square; the famed Charles Bridge is also a five-minute walk away. Nightlife opportunities are too numerous to count in this capital city, and visits to the opera, lively discos and bars, classic taverns and cafés are a must.

Three different jogging routes allow exercise enthusiasts to stay fit while soaking in the cityscape, or they can work out closer to home, in the hotel’s 55-square-meter, Technogym-stocked fitness center. Yoga classes are held four times a week.

Rooms & Dining

The 101 guest accommodations comprise an array of layouts, from superior deluxe rooms to 16 suites, complemented by panoramic views of Prague Castle, the neighboring monastery chapel and Letenska Street. Each room is distinct yet styled in an elegant aesthetic evocative of the avant-garde Czech Cubism movement. All feature restored historic details – vaulted ceilings and ornate doors among them – from the hotel’s initial design; the standalone three-room Tower Suite even resides within the monastery’s original tower.

The European brasserie-style Litchfield Restaurant provides its own artful design: Set in a glass-covered courtyard, the restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows that present a bright, airy ambience, and classic interiors center around an ancient tree motif and art photography by famed British photographer, Lord Patrick Litchfield. Local, seasonal ingredients enhance international and Czech Bohemian dishes, which guests can enjoy indoors or alfresco on the intimate terrace. Health-conscious guests can savor portion-controlled fare at Augustine Spa.
