About Hayman Great Barrier Reef

Spa Hayman is located within a private island resort near Australia's Great Barrier Reef. Hayman Great Barrier Reef, situated on the southwestern side of the island, is fringed by pristine beaches leading into the bright blue Coral Sea. Luxurious accommodations, five world-class restaurants, leisure pavilions, and the spa facility are set among lush tropical gardens and water features. A member of Leading Hotels of the World, the 35-acre resort is designed to blend in with the natural surroundings of the Whitsunday Islands, where a wide variety of vibrantly colored flora and exotic animals such as white cockatoos and wallabies can be seen. The clear blue waters of the Coral Sea are aswarm with tropical fish, whole schools of which can be viewed up close by scuba enthusiasts or snorkelers.

Guests of Spa Hayman experience much more than pampering services, though the spa does have an extensive menu of traditional favorites. The spa is designed to serve as a wellness-oriented oasis with luxurious features such as surprise add-ons to beauty procedures and meticulously customized treatments. In addition to spa services, guests can consult with the spa's wellness experts, who perform an extensive holistic analysis on each individual. Couples on a honeymoon or commemorating an anniversary can use Spa Hayman and Hayman Island Resort as their own romantic island hideaway, enjoying such intimate indulgences as private dinners on a candlelit balcony and a wide selection of spa treatments for two.

Spa Hayman features modern spa design with a warm, residential feel. The 900-square-meter facility has 13 treatment rooms, including a hydrotherapy area and Vichy shower, beachfront massage pavilions, a couple's treatment room, relaxation lounges, and a hair salon. The spa design reflects the earth tones and natural, sensuous textures of the Whitsunday Islands.

The spa's distinctive health and wellness programs commence with a Self Assessment Questionnaire that thoroughly examines every main aspect of a guest's lifestyle. Guests are guided through a regimen of screenings, treatments, and therapies based on their answers to the questionnaire. Screenings include Cellular Health Analysis, which is thought to determine how an individual's internal cellular processes contribute to aging; Biological Terrain Assessment, a body-fluids test meant to determine a guest's internal biochemical environment; and Live Blood Analysis, which scrutinizes the size, shape, and structure of red and white blood cells.

Pampering treatments are also available that range from the two-hour Caviar and Pearl Rejuvenation Facial to the signature Ocean Massage, performed in the waters of the secluded Coconut Beach. In-room balneotherapy and massage treatments are available as well.

Spa Hayman has an outdoor fitness center with a staff of personal trainers. A variety of exercise classes are offered, including yoga, Beach Boxing, Boot Camp, Stretch & Relax, and Fit Ball. Guests can also take advantage of the extremely large saltwater pool and two freshwater pools.

Rooms & Dining

Hayman Island Resort has 212 luxury rooms, suites, and penthouses, all of which feature a private terrace or balcony. Guest accommodations are divided into four wings: Pool, Palm, Lagoon, and Beach. The Palm Wing is conveniently located near the fitness, spa, and leisure facilities, while the Beach Wing includes tropical gardens and a private beachfront villa. The Lagoon Wing has the resort's largest accommodations and panoramic views of the Coral Sea and nearby Hook Island.

Five world-class dining options are available at the resort, ensuring that guests can enjoy a wide range of fine cuisine. Azure offers modern Australian cuisine and buffet-style breakfast; guests can dine alfresco on the spacious outdoor deck. The Beach Pavilion provides additional daytime dining options with a selection of seafood, meat dishes, and salads in a setting that overlooks the lagoon pool and the beach. Dinner is somewhat more formal, with options ranging from French cuisine served in the chandelier-lit Louis XVI-style surroundings of La Fontaine (jacket recommended for men) to Oriental, an indoor and outdoor Asian restaurant where each table occupies its own secluded platform amidst the foliage of a Chinese garden. La Trattoria offers Mediterranean specialties.

Private dinners can also be accommodated, as can elegant in-room dining. Cocktails are served at the Club Lounge before and after dinner nightly.

Activities

Hayman Island Resort's leisure facilities help guests take full advantage of the island setting. The Marine Centre features a fully accredited scuba and snorkel center as well as complimentary access to equipment and instruction for catamaran sailing, windsurfing, and paddle-skiing. The resort also encompasses five floodlit tennis courts and two squash courts in addition to an abundance of less strenuous forms of recreation (a library filled with books for guest use, an entertainment center where films are regularly screened, etc.). A kids' club is available for guests ages 5 through 12. Guests may also luxuriate on the beach or explore the resort's art exhibits with a self-guided audio tour.

Hayman Island capitalizes on its close proximity to the Great Barrier Reef by offering a wide range of ways to explore this breathtaking natural wonder. In addition to snorkeling and scuba excursions, a day cruise is available that transports guests to a pontoon at Knuckle Reef Lagoon in a luxury vessel with all-day refreshment service. Helicopters leave the resort regularly for Reefworld, a facility where guests can enjoy fish feeding and an underwater marine theater. Hayman Island is also an angler's paradise, with black marlin, sailfish, and mahi mahi, to name just a few, providing tantalizing catches on resort-arranged game and bottom fishing trips. Charter boats are available upon request.

I was very comfortable at this spa. It was very clean, inviting and relaxing. Everyone was very welcoming, helpful, polite and professional. Their staff was very knowledgably and both my husband any I enjoyed the services we selected - from facials to massages and mani/pedis. The resort it self is fantastic and the spa completes the wonderful experience. A must as part of your stay at Hayman. We can't wait to go again on our 10 year anniversary!
