This spa is perfectly located near the Metra Ogilvie train station. I have plenty of time during my lunch hour to have my desired service and head back to work with no hassle. The prices are pretty reasonable considering the location.

Birthday Spa Day

I went to SpaSpace last Saturday, January 28th, 2012, for my co-worker's birthday. It was great, this was my very first time. I had a massage and a manicure. They were both wonderful.
The staff was great and very accomidating. We had the party room from 4-6pm and it was a fantastic time. We had a wonderful time.
The only thing that they can change was the changing area. It was small, they can do some expansion in this area.
I will be back to visit in the future.

Pricey, not the ambience I wanted, but overall, OK

I wouldn't go back here, but the treatments were-- OK, got the job done, but nothing extra, which you would expect from a spa. Extras meaning having a relaxing vibe, feeling as if you're getting your money's worth to feel pampered and tension free when you leave. I didn't get that after I left, so probably wouldn't go back. The changing area was too cramped and uncomfortable, and the noise loud,so seemed more like a walk-in place for young people, more so than a spa you make appts. at.

I'm pretty persnickity when it comes to spas and don't get pedicures for fear of germs. But Spa Space puts those fears aside because they foot tubs have a double drainage system. No backwash from other folks dirt or germs. The tub where you get your feet soaked drains directly into a tub beneath it (no tubing involved) and it's that bottom tub that drains into the system. Because there's no tubing involved in the first tub, you can rest assure that there isn't any dirt getting backwashed back up. LOVE IT. This is the only place I get pedicures and only place I recommend getting them. Those other places...don't even get me started.

I been here a few times. I had have several great massages here. I also experienced the art of touch. This is a great massaging experience for you and your significant other.
More recently, I had a party of me and 5 of my girlfrields here for a spa mango-pineapple enzyme mani/pedi. We had a great time, but you pay more that its definitely worth. I assumed you would get a nice long foot rub, but I was a little bit disappointed. They state that the service is 50 minutes, it was more like 35. I think our total experience was average. Ive been to plenty of spas and I would go elsewhere to spend that much for a mani/pedi.

Unacceptable! (5/4/2011)

I took my mother here for a relaxing Mother's Day retreat. I was terribly disappointed and embarrassed due to experience we had here. The salon's staff was loud, used vulgar language and simply behaved completely unprofessional. We were ushered out of the private room, that we had reserved and paid for, as soon as ourt nails were polished causing them to become very flawed. Then it was difficult to get a staff member to help us repair our pedicures. It was even suggested that we'd make another pedicure appointment which we'd have to pay for!! One of the director's, Jemma, simply suggested that we'd choose a smaller venue in the future to meet our needs!!! I could go on but, the bottom line is that I would never return there nor recommend anyone else to go there either!!

Very relaxing time

I would recommend this spa for a group event. Six of us gathered for a 3 generation family spa day. We all had 2 services, one of which was some type of massage. We used the private party room where we had lunch before our services. All the friendly staff went out of their way to help us have a great time. This spa is very nice, very clean, but not lavish. However, the prices weren't lavish either. And an hour massage is a full hour, not 50 minutes like many spas I have been to. The service providers were excellent and we felt it was a good value for the money. The waiting/relaxation room is a little small, but since we had a private room it didn't matter. The dressing room/ locker area is not huge, but very adequate. We had a wonderful time and would definitely go back.

I recently visited Spa Space for a mani and a pedi and we had a delightful time! The staff is what made the difference. They were all so nice and accomadating. I called the day before and spoke with Jemma. There are plenty of spas to choose from, but she was so nice over the phone that I knew this was the one we should visit. She was even nicer in person! We had a pedi in the private room for two which made it even more special. Thank you for making our trip worthwhile and for kicking off what turned out to be a lovely weekend for me and my Mom!

The weather outside was frightful, but our trip to Spa Space was delightful! My hubby and I went to celebrate our anniversary and booked their private pedicure room, which was just as advertised - private, relaxing, a true spa experience. The pedicurists were wonderful - sweet, focused, and really dedicated to doing a great job. In fact, we were so happy at Spa Space and so reluctant to head back outside to the freezing cold, that we decided to see if we could get massages. To our pleasant surprise, they were able to fit us in - surprising, because it seemed pretty busy. But it turns out that the space is very large - you don't get that sense when you walk in, which is nice - it feels welcoming and very personal. The couple's massage room was booked, so we went to separate rooms to have our massages. Mine was so fabulous that I almost felt guilty, knowing that my therapist was probably better than my husband's. But when we re-connected, he said that his was the best he'd ever had. He wanted to extend it, but he didn't want to leave me waiting. This is very high praise comingi from him, as normally he doesn't get too enthusiastic about his massages. I would have stayed for a facial, but I didn't want to get excessive...we'll definitely go back and try more services. BTW, the front desk was just lovely - so unlike other experiences I've had at other spas. They were friendly and had cute personalities - not stuffy at all. It was not fun to leave!!

Bad Dressing Area

No dressing rooms, it was a locker room and they had no open lockers so I had to put my clothes in a shopping bag which they put in their office. When I was done with my treatment, they had put my stuff in a locker. The locker room was crowded, not very comfortable.
The treatment itself was very relaxing, nice smelling products. The technician was friendly, you can request a male or female. I had a body wrap scrub treatment, she gave me the brush she used so that was nice. For the price I would expect a little more. It was my first time and if I return it would probably be for a manicure or pedicure. Plus, that the location is convenient since it's close to my work.

Found this spa on Spafinder and was a little unsure because of the mixed reviews. My experience was totally positive (went with a close friend) - we loved our packages - we each did a different one but they set it up so that we would finish together with our pedicures in a private room. Everything was organized, clean, visually interesting (if not the fanciest), and totally relaxing. The staff was wonderful - from the moment we walked in throughout the whole day. In my opinion, Spa Space is a first-class operation and a great value for the money. We will definitely be back with more friends, as we spoke to some ladies in the locker room who had reserved a private space for lunch to celebrate a birthday. Great idea!

My friend and I couldn't wait to pay and get out. The dressing room experience was terrible. There's no place to change, no privacy and only one bathroom. There were two bridal parties that have taken over the 'tranquility' room, and I had to ask them to move to get to my locker. The room was anything but tranquil. Once outside, we said we'd never come back here again. For the same price, you can go to any spa on Michigan Avenue and experience real luxury.

Best of Chicago

5.00 out of 5 stars
I've tried many Chicago-area spas, and Spa Space is by far the best in my opinion. The caliber of the treatments and therapists is top-notch. I've been back several times over the past year or so, and have always been extremely satisfied with my experience. The pricing is very reasonable for a faclity of this quality, and there are many interesting treatments to try. The attitude of the staff is welcoming and warm. Everything is always clean & fresh, and although the locker rooms are "cozy" (ok, a bit small), the lockers are generous, the steam rooms are private and wonderful, and the relaxation area is soooo comfy. The facials are the best I've ever experienced. I always look forward to my next visit to Spa Space.

I've been to Spa Space twice now (first with a Spa Finder and then with the balance they issued), and both experiences were phenomenal. The ambience, the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the services were all top-notch. One of the best facials I've ever had. It's definitely the best place in Chicago.

This spa should be renamed the shortcut spa. There was no music throughout the common areas of the spa. The music in the rooms were regulated by each individual therapist which was inappropriately chosen for relaxation. The dressing area was a joke. Try changing with 5 other women in a 3' x 3' area. First, I had a facial which was probably the only service that was half way decent. Although, I have to mention the steam did smell somewhat like fishy water. Next, I went to my massage. First, the massage therapist tried to educate me about massage because I don't think she wanted to use the pressure that I had requested. Mind you, I have been getting massages once a week for the past 16 years. During the massage, my table was not stabilized and with any movement the table rocked back and forth. Onto the pedicure/manicure, which was an average experience. The chairs at the pedicure station were uncomfortable. And then I had to wait for a station to open up for my manicure. Needless to say, I just wanted this day at the spa to end. For the amount I paid, I did not receive the quality of service I had expected and had at other day spas.

Spa Space- excellent massages, but noisy
-
4.00 out of 5 stars
I love spa space for the massages and decor. If you are looking to really relax and have the whole quiet room experience, though, this is probably not the place to come. Staff in the locker room/quiet room are very noisy, as are customers who are talking to each other (espeically groups for parties). All the massage therapists I've had have been excellent, except for one. Be sure to request an upstairs massage room, or don't have the treatment. The downstairs room is near the noisy areas, so is not at all relaxing. I will continue to frequent spa space, but wish they would take care of the noise.
