The four-season Horseshoe Resort, one hour north of the greater Toronto area, exposes guests to both the beauty of southern Ontario’s natural surroundings and the relaxation that comes from a luxury resort. A golf destination by summer and ski mecca come winter, Horseshoe entertains with ample outdoor excursions balanced by tranquil indoor spaces. Shizen Spa offers a secluded space of serenity with two treatment rooms, and guests can indulge in rejuvenating rituals such as the customized Signature Massage. A selection of accommodations is available, including two-bedroom Valley Suites, set at the base of the ski hill. Guests can enjoy Horseshoe Valley views while dining at the elegant Silks restaurant, or unwind at Crazy Horse grill, savoring pub fare and live entertainment.

Located on the second floor of the Horseshoe Resort, the 400-square-foot Shizen Spa promotes tranquility of body, mind and soul through services that complement the resort’s active, outdoorsy adventures. The spa hosts just two treatment rooms, cultivating an intimate experience; additional wellness amenities found throughout the resort encompass swimming pools, a fitness center, whirlpool and sauna.
Signature rituals include the Oxygen Infusion Facial, Action Sublime Facial and Skin Repair firming wrap. Deep-cleansing, organic and time-reversal facials are on the menu, and an array of massage modalities run the gamut from deep tissue and Swedish to hot stone and side-by-side couples. Other enhancements include nailcare (including the mother-daughter mani/pedi), waxing, tension-relief leg treatments and scalp energizers.

Horseshoe Resort guests have a wealth of entertaining activities within their grasp, no matter the season. Winter enthusiasts are provided access to 26 alpine ski and snowboard runs, plus more than 35 kilometers of Nordic track and powder trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. A snow tubing park boasts five chutes, and a terrain park highlights more than 20 features. Horseshoe accommodates all skill levels, allowing novice and pro skiers and snowboarders to practice their craft at the Snow School with family, group or private lessons. Warmer season delights include two championship golf courses — the woodland Valley Course or the challenging Highlands Course — complete with an 8,000-square-foot clubhouse and pro shop; an adventure park with climbing wall, maze and ziplining; hiking through Copeland Forest and more. When not hitting the slopes or the links, fitness fans can visit the gym and squash court, or take a dip in the indoor or outdoor swimming pools.

Horseshoe Resort’s four distinct room types are ideal for small groups of four; two-bedroom Valley Suite condos house up to six. Standard Rooms come with two queen-size beds and four-piece baths, while select accommodations, including Deluxe Rooms and two-level Loft Suites, showcase sunken sitting areas with fireplaces; the latter also has sky-lit bedrooms and bathrooms with whirlpool tubs. Valley Suites, located at the foot of the ski hill, evoke a homey vibe, with enclosed balconies, full kitchens and washer/dryer services.
The upscale Silks restaurant’s ever-changing seasonal dishes feature the best of Ontario’s flavors and ingredients. In addition to an award-winning wine collection, menu items include Grilled AAA New York Steak, Sautéed Pacific White Shrimp Pasta and Muskoka Lakes Pickerel. The Crazy Horse restaurant serves casual, comfort fare like juicy burgers, smokehouse ribs and slow-roasted chicken in a laidback, family friendly atmosphere. Diners can unwind with dinner or drinks on the outdoor patio, or crowd around the hand-crafted pine bar.
