  After a major two-year restoration project, the 150-year-old Hotel Schweizerhof Bern AG in the heart of the Swiss capital reopened in 2011 with stylish grandeur and a sense of heritage evident in every detail. Luxurious but comfortable, the five-star hotel is designed in contemporary fashion with a mix of opulence and traditionalism. Personalized service remains the focus in all aspects of the hotel, including its 500-square-meter spa. Residing on the lower level, where the former Jaylin’s club one lived and jazz legends played, the spa area now reflects an oasis of wellness, with five treatment rooms, a menu of Sothys treatments, a pamper pool and fitness center. Bern’s main railway station is opposite the hotel on the Bahnhofstrasse, and noted shops and cultural landmarks are a short stroll away.

Open in early 2012, the spa at Hotel Schweizerhof is a sanctuary of urban tranquility. Chic, modern interiors of the 500-square-meter spa offer a seductive blend of polished, anthracite natural stone and sleek dark oak wood, offset by dynamic splashes of color and metallic textured wall coverings. A good number of amenities invites total relaxation; highlights include experience showers, a Finnish sauna, ice fountain, hammam, laconium and 24-hour gym, plus, its centerpiece: a pamper pool with two Jacuzzis and massage lounges. Quiet contemplation can be had in the relaxation room, which comes equipped with water beds.   

Hotel Schweizerhof is the first five-star hotel in Switzerland to partner with French brand Sothys, offering guests a menu comprising sumptuous facials, massage, Ayurveda rituals like Abhyanga, makeup, nailcare and waxing treatments.
