About The Omni Grove Park Inn

Built in 1913 to attract well-heeled vacationers to its location high in the Blue Ridge Mountains, The Grove Park Inn is a celebrated North Carolina landmark in the artsy, spiritual mountain town of Asheville. Though a complete renovation took place in 2001, adding an underground spa grotto and expanded sports complex, the AAA Four-Diamond resort spa remains linked to its history and locale, so much so that it has earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places. The design esthetic matches The Grove Park Inn to its surroundings; the property is built of boulders mined from the mountain on which it sits, and indoors, guests will marvel at the cavernous lobby and 14-foot-wide fireplaces. In addition to an 18-hole historic golf course and ample dining options, this mountain getaway features a spacious, subterranean spa with more than 20,000 square feet of amenities, including waterfall pools and relaxation lounges with fireplaces. Revitalizing treatments include the Mountain View Massage and Carolina Mud Pie Wrap.

The Spa at The Grove Park Inn Resort was built underground to preserve the untrammeled views accessible throughout the wellness facility. The 43,000-square-foot, $50-million spa features 37 treatment rooms, and an impressive 20,000 square feet is devoted to amenity space, including men’s and women’s areas with plunge pools, eucalyptus-infused steam rooms, saunas, and inhalation rooms. Fire, rock, water, and light—four essential elements of the surrounding natural landscape—provided inspiration for the spa design, which incorporates indigenous cavernous rockwork, numerous fireplaces, cascading waterfalls, and a lap pool blanketed by fiber-optic stars.

The signature line of body products offers three enticing blends—detoxifying citrus, rejuvenating rosemary and mint, and relaxing lavender; the spa also uses Aromatherapy Associates and Epicuren brands in massage and skincare services. Bespoke treatments like the Fire, Rock, Water, and Light, an 80-minute ritual combining a full-body exfoliation, warm Vichy shower, body mask, and massage, put spa-goers in a state of pure bliss.

Facilities & Amenities

The 50,000-square-foot Sports Complex has a full selection of True, Precor, and Paramount equipment and classes (Aqua Zumba, Body Sculpt, Muscle Fusion, and more), as well as a staff of personal trainers. Athletes can swim laps in four pools that range from lap to Jr. Olympic size, or take advantage of six indoor/outdoor tennis courts, group clinics, private lessons, and a pro shop. In addition, there’s the Donald Ross-designed championship golf course; originally opened in 1899, it has been renovated to recapture its original contours: The front nine features a level landscape, while the back nine challenges golfers with gentle slopes and steep inclines.

Outdoorsmen and women will find no shortage of excitement in the Blue Ridge Mountains. For example, the famous Blue Ridge Parkway connects the Shenandoah and Great Smoky Mountains National Park with 469 miles of hiking (including a portion of the Appalachian Trail), bicycling, bird-watching, fishing, and picnicking areas. The artsy downtown district of Asheville is also popular for its micro-breweries and restaurants.

Rooms & Dining

The Grove Park Inn's 512 guest accommodations vary widely in size, amenities, and design. In both the main inn and contemporary wings, comfortable guest rooms with mountain, courtyard, and spa garden views can be found. For additional pampering, the Club Floor provides complimentary continental breakfast and cocktails, king-size beds with plush-top mattresses, and spa bathrooms equipped with multiple-jet hydro-showers.

Horizons, the resort's AAA Four-Diamond flagship restaurant, serves innovative variations of traditional American favorites in formal, elegant surroundings. Mountain views enhance the atmosphere as guests enjoy a farm-to-table dining experience; dishes such as lobster bisque and slow-braised Duroc pork belly are created with locally sourced ingredients. At Sunset Terrace, the bill of fare for lunch and dinner includes steaks, seafood, and regional specialties. Open daily for all three meals, the Blue Ridge Dining Room offers both à la carte service and weekend specialty buffets (seafood, prime rib, etc.). Spa Café features waterfall seating and a selection of nutritious, portion-controlled cuisine.
