• About Verde Wellness & Massage

Welcome to Verde Wellness & Massage! Verde is the direct expansion of our old practice started by Crystal, Crystal’s Massage, in January 2011. Since opening, Crystal’s Massage steadily grew due to our increasing number of loyal clients that we brought in a therapist to help with new clients. Our awesome clients continued to spread the word on how awesome Crystal’s Massage was that we had to hire yet another therapist. With three therapists and a whole lot of loyal clients, we were faced with a dilemma; we had outgrown our lovely loft. While we loved our tranquil loft, the need to expand was a necessary step that we had to take. So in June of 2012 we said good bye to our loft and went down the street with our vision and dreams to commence the work on our new home. We have come so far that the need to rename was necessary to represent us as a team and the ever increasing ambition to provide more holistic wellness services at awesome prices. In mid September 2012 we officially opened our doors as Verde Wellness & Massage. We welcome you to come experience our soothing new spa. We look forward to seeing our awesome clients and welcome all the new clients with healing hands.

Tui na

Tui na is an ancient Chinese system of manual therapeutics with a wide range of techniques and indications. While traditional Chinese medical precepts form its theoretical basis, clinical experience governs its application. Tui na techniques range from those that are light and soothing to those that are strong and invigorating. Refined over the centuries, tui na facilitates healing by regulating the circulation of blood and qi (vital energy), which controls body function and enhances resistance to disease. The term tui na combines the names of two of the hand techniques, tui meaning to push and na meaning to lift and squeeze, which are used to represent the system. Practitioners of tui na claim there are more than 365 hand techniques, although they can be generally placed in the category of pressing, rubbing, waving, shaking, percussion, or manipulating.

Table Thai Massage

Table Thai massage is a system of massage and assisted stretching developed in Thailand, and influenced by the traditional medicine systems of India, China, and Southeast Asia. This form of bodywork performed with the client wearing comfortable clothes that allow for movement. No oils are used in Thai massage. The receiver may be positioned in a variety of yoga like positions during the course of the massage, but deep static and rhythmic pressures form the core of the massage. The body will be energized and rejuvenated after the massage. The massage practitioner leans on the recipient's body using hands and usually straight forearms locked at the elbow to apply firm rhythmic pressure. The massage generally follows the Sen lines on the body somewhat analogous to meridians or channels and Indian nadis.

Crystal

Hi, my name is Crystal; I choose massage therapy because it was something that was a great part of my childhood growing up in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. I learned to respect the healing potential of massage from my grandfather and the value of holistic remedies from my grandmother. So it was a natural path for me to follow in massage therapy and holistic healing methods. I received an Associate's Degree in Occupational Health Sciences with a specialty in Therapeutic Massage from Centura College in Virginia Beach. I am licensed by the state of Illinois as a Massage Therapist; I am also nationally certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) and a professional member of The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). Although I specialize in deep tissue and sport massages, I offer a wide range of massage modalities to my clients. I also provide a broad range of treatments along with my massages, including but not limited to, stretch techniques, aromatherapy, heat packs and hot stones, to name a few. I came to Chicago with two years of experience in resort spa massages from Virginia Beach and now with over five years of chiropractic and wellness massage experience in Chicago. I speak Spanish fluently and I strive to give my clients the best therapeutic massage they have ever had.

Gaby

My name is Gaby, and I am a massage therapist committed to helping my clients manage their pain and stress in the comfort of our warm and tranquil location. I originally attended Fox College for Business Administration but realized that this wasn’t the career for me. For as long as I can remember massage and healing has been a part of my life. I grew up in a traditional Mexican home were holistic medicine and healing was a common practice, from herbal remedies to massage. This was a great influence in me becoming interested in massage therapy, so with the support of my family I began my journey. I enrolled at The Soma Institute and completed their Clinical Massage Therapy Program. I currently specialize in Hot Stone Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, Swedish massage and Reflexology. I am fluent in Spanish. I look forward to providing you with an experience that will leave you relaxed and stress free.

Susie

Hello my name is Susie and I am a graduate from Northwestern College. What first got me to love massage was my dad. After a long day, he would come home from work and ask me to rub his back. I love being able to melt his stress away with my massages. I have an excellent ability to make people feel comfortable and relax. I can do a variety of techniques; from deep pressure to a relaxing Swedish massage, I am here to delight your day. Not only am I good at my job but I love it too. I am a very friendly, easy going person who thinks everyone should live life to the fullest.

Mia

I have been practicing massage therapy for over eight years and graduated from the National University of Health Sciences. My early training there in the gross anatomy lab and my work with chiropractors has given me a strong foundation in anatomy and physiology. I have experience working with patients and clients in both the medical and spa setting. In the spa setting I have performed a variety of services including Swedish, Hot Stone, Prenatal, Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, and body treatments. My greatest strength is in deep tissue massage. I believe that many clients with chronic conditions as well as athletes with specific needs and goals benefit from a good deep tissue treatment. Focused soft tissue work is where I shine. Of course, I always tailor the massage to the client’s request.
