I was a patron at this spa for years. It was one of the best I have been to. Great technicians, amazing relaxation room and a very warm, personable staff. However, recently there have been some changes in the system and staffing and after a few visits that were subpar I have ended my patronage. I can get massages and facials anywhere, I chose this spa because of the spectacular customer service and atmosphere. It is no longer any different than any other chain or big company spa.

I have been going to Spa of Essex for many years. The employees all go out of their way to accommodate your needs and desires. I would highly recommend this spa to anyone who needs routine services or a day to just relax.

I absolutely LOVE this spa! The staff is incredible. The massage techniques are out of this world. It's convenient, affordable, and they have THE BEST Relaxation room! The chairs are so comfy and it is easy to drift off into your own little world. The facility is immaculate. I just cannot say enough good things about the spa! However, I do have to admit that I was a little disappointed with the pedicure I received. I expected to receive foot and calf massages as part of the monthly spa pedi, and I didn't really get those benefits. I have had the aromatherapy wrap, which was wonderful. I also had a wet room treatment, which was nice, but ended up not really being my cup of tea. Still, those massages will keep me coming back time after time!

The Spa of Essex is by far the best spa I have ever visited, even better than the ones in the Carribbean! I have had most of their services and have never been disappointed once. They always go above and beyond to make me feel welcome and relaxed and will do whatever it takes to make my spa day the most comfortable and relaxing day ever. Everything is always clean and presentable, and the staff is extremely inviting, warm and polite. I travel from my college in Massachusetts and drive right by all of the large spas in Boston just for the services and therapists at The Spa of Essex. I will continue to go back and spread the news about this wonderful day spa!!

I recently purchased a half day spa experience for my 21 year old daughter, 80 year old mother and myself. Because I live in the lovely town of Essex, I was anxious to support a local establishment. However, although the staff was most pleasant, my 90 minute massage was 65 minutes, our pre-ordered lunch was an unapproved, lower value substitution, and the massage therapist was ordinary at best. I have not returned, nor will I until I hear of a better and more consistent value and quality. J

This spa is fabulous. I began to relax the moment I walked through the doors. The staff is top notch and the friendliest I've ever met. They go out of their way to make you feel relaxed and "at home".
I had never tried Reiki before but went on the suggestion of my therapist. I have to say, I was pretty skeptical. But that hour was great and worth every penny! I have never been so relaxed both mentally and physically in my life. Not only was the staff great, but the heated tables, the relaxation room, and even the waiting room was to die for. I will definately be back.

A HIDDEN GEM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a Spa junkie, having gone many times to Canyon Ranch And Miraval (my favorite.) I live close to this Spa, which had been a nursing home many years ago. I never thought of entering it, due to its somewhat gloomy exterior. After reading rave reviews of the Spa on this and other web sites, I booked and appointment for a massage. The interior was beautifully decorated, the atmosphere tranquil, and the staff courteous. I plan to become a regular.

Never have I experienced such relaxation and pampering as I did today. I treated myself and my two daughters, one 23 and the other 15. My older one is in grad school and extremely stressed with finals, etc. My younger one is a freshman in high school and stressed from finals, new school, etc.
We were 15 minutes late. Wouldn't you know we hit every traffic light, every stop sign and on top of that, there was a town tag sale and traffic was literally at a standstill. I thought when we got there late there would be attitude for being late. Of course, we all have cell phones, did one of us bring them? No. We could not even call to say we were running late. I walked in, explained the situation. I cannot say enough about how we were treated and pampered. They treated us the same way a person 15 minutes early would have been treated. Nothing was rushed, in fact, just the opposite. I cannot stress enough how relaxed I came out of there being, and I only opted for the manicure/pedicure. One daughter go a massage and the other a facial. We then proceeded to the "Relaxation Room", a beautiful dim-lit room with plush chair to relax in and that is just what we did. One girl came in, not to say our time was up to ask when we would like her to come back to get us. It was the most relaxing day I have ever had. Nevermind NYC spas, this beats them all.

I've been to many spas, including destination and salon based. Even with the most luxurious surroundings, you can still feel like you are in a spa factory where they get you in and out. At Spa of Essex, I had one of the best massage experiences I have ever had. The staff was an absolute pleasure and the environment was truly relaxing. I loved the decor- looks like a great deal of attention was paid to making this not feel like just another spa. The set up is perfect for a day with girlfriends- very large treatment rooms, beautiful nail room, fabulous lunch from the Griswald Inn in Essex. No hard sell in the treatment rooms. Loved that its privately owned and the owner is there to make sure your experience is special. Spoke with several repeat customers who felt the same as me and are tired of the corporate owned spas. The massage/facial/nail treatments are extensive, and apparently there will be new rooms added soon with even more services. Absolutely worth a visit!

I have visited this spa several times since its opening this year and each and every time I have left the spa I feel more relaxed and refreshed than the time before! I have had their superior facials, body treatments, massages as well as manicures and pedicures. From the time I walk into the door to the time I leave, I am completely satisifed with my experience! The service is always very professional and comforting. Every room in this spacious spa is beautiful and calming and every detail has been thought of. I always look forward to my next visit!

The Spa Of Essex was an absolute treat. The atmoshere alone was relaxing not to mention the extensive menu of services, out of which i recieved two of. I began my experience with a sixty minute swedish massage, i felt as though i was in another world. Followed by a short visit to the spa's amazing relaxation room, full of oversized chairs, dimmed lighting, gentle music and overall peaceful surroundings. Then i was swept away for an hour long Avance Facial, which was also heavenly. At the end of my day, i was again invited to spend additional time in the relaxation room, which i declined only for fear i would never want to leave. Do visit the Spa of Essex if you ever have the chance, you dont know what your missing.

I just had my first massage at this beautiful new spa. As you enter the door, it is like walking into another world. The decor is peaceful and relaxing and the staff is both friendly and professional. The menu is very extensive and sure to include something for everyone.

The Spa of Essex is beautifully situated on serene grounds and is completely indicative of a warm invitation to a calm, stress free environment. The therapists are professional, skilled and knowledgeable within their treatments and services. The best asset of the spa is the relaxation room which extends a warm invitation to luxury and comfort. Aside from the location, treatment and therapists, I will have to say the spa overall lacks tremendously in spa etiquette and overall professionalism. In an attempt to make boutique purchases, I learned no qualified staff member was available to answer basic questions about the product lines. On more than one occasion, I was surprised to be greeted by the owner's adolescent daughter who was acting as receptionist. When I select a spa, I am looking for total relaxation in a stress free environment. The Spa of Essex lacks the overall environment that I seek for total wellness and relaxation.
