Its a huge facility, which is unique. However, the selection of services is limited and they charge quite a lot for what they offer, even for this area. Also, charging extra for things like spa panties or disposable flip flops - items any other upscale spa offers for free is a little ridiculous. The staff was a bit coarse and the woman who provided my services seemed irritated she had to give a cosmetic service in addition to my my massage.

Excellent massage, okay spa
I had a deep tissue massage by Jennifer and it was probably the best I've ever had. She was very skilled and knowledgeable, and my muscles were so tight from marathon training that I know she worked HARD for that hour! I would go back just for her if it weren't so hard to get to from my apartment. The spa is not the best I've been to - the steam room was not at all steamy and kept at about 110 degrees or less... not that warm! And the "tsunami shower" was missing a chain so you couldn't turn it on when I was there. The dry sauna was good though, and their jacuzzi is great, the perfect temperature. They do not have towels in the locker room which I thought was weird, especially because there are showers.. what am I supposed to do when I get out of the shower? I grabbed some from the wet room area and brought them back to the locker room. There weren't enough chairs in the sauna area and they were lawn chairs besides. It wasn't super clean either (not unsanitary, just hair and towels around) and the cleaning people were always in the way and talking on cell phones. Most really nice spas seems to be magically immaculately clean, yet you never see any clean people - this spa was definitely missing the magic.

The masseuses are great, but the spa staff is terrible. I went with a bachelorette party, so there were 7 of us, and they had no lockers for us. All of us our stuff was stored in the men's locker room, which would be fine, except when we went into the ladies locker room there were dozens of open lockers, they'd just lost the keys to them. We also tried to order drinks in the Dry Bar, and the staff paid zero attention to us. We ordered the drinks 3 times before leaving, which was even after the manager said he would comp the drinks. It's also very dark and not relaxing spa-like in the WetBar area with dirty towels everywhere, outdoor lawn furniture and no windows. Overall, I would NOT recommend it for the price.

So so, wouldn't go back. Got the basic job done, with the facial and massage, but wouldn't choose that place since there are so many others.

I recently went with a group of friends for a girls day out to celebrate ourselves and healthy living. When we arrived I was impressed at the location. I used to work in the neighborhood (around the corner actually from the site). It was good to see the space being put to a good use. It was afternoon when we arrived. There were a few people waiting to checkout so we patiently waited. After a few minutes we were given the check-in form to fill out. They did not have enough clipboards or pens to provide for the FOUR of us. After we filled out the form we were asked if it was our first time. We replied yes and then were given locker keys and sent on our way. The check-out process was not explained, we were not given information about how to pay for purchases inside the spa, nor were we directed to where anything was in the spa. One of the woman in my party had a surprise massage scheduled. The masseuse was waiting outside of the women's locker room asking everyone if they were my friend. I'm wondering if someone said yes, would they have gotten the massage her boyfriend paid for. While she went for her massage (which she did enjoy) the rest of us ventured to explore what else there was. Not much!

I had a gift certificate for a mani/pedi & the works and I must say that was the first mani/pedi I had without water. Everything was done while laying on a massage table. I was also supposed to receive a foot, hand, shoulder & scalp massage as well but you can't really count the two minutes each spent on the hand & foot massages (very disappointing). The mani/pedi started off ok, but the salt scrub used on both was not thoroughly wiped off which left me feeling gritty. My nails were not clipped just filed & my hand cuticles were not even touched. I actually left there feeling like I need to go to another nail salon to get my mani/pedi.

II have 2 main complaints about this place, which I spent 2 hours driving to each way. The first is that I got only a 40 minute massage when I paid for an hour massage. When I finished the massage I figured it must have been a 45 minute massage, so when I went to pay, they tried to convince me that the masseuse actually gave me an extra 5 minutes, even though I waited a half hour for her to come get me, checked the time on 2 different clocks both on the way in and on the way out, then the manager tried to tell me that it was because the clocks are turned off at night and that all of the clocks are wrong so that must be my mistake. She gave me a free $7 drink on the house.... The buffet was ridiculous. First off it wasn't even a buffet, you ordered off of a menu so I ordered the pancake, and yes there was only 1 pancake and about 8 berries with about an ounce of mango syrup and tea, for $20! Complete rip-off. The worst part though is that they tried to lie to me at the end and make me feel stupid about telling time. I will NEVER go there again and do not encourage anyone to go there.

A hidden oasis
Invited by a friend for the girlfriends weekend brunch special I discovered this place to be a lovely Brooklyn oasis. I live in New York City and thus have travelled far and wide within the boroughs to spas in Manhattan, The Bronx, and Queens. This easy to find location with an unassuming exterior was an impressive surprise. The outside does little to inform you of the large, yet cozy feeling of the interior. A well maintained space there is always staff available for replenishing and supporting your needs. This spa has a cozy, friendly atmoshere where I have spent many a day circulating from the steam room to the saunas to the plunge pool to the jacuzzi. After which relaxing over a cool drink in the lounge area while sitting by the fireplace proves refreshing. I have also melted in the hands of their fabulous masseurs without ever having to hear promotion of their spa products. In fact I had them use my own products. I have throughly enjoyed my visits to Body by Brooklyn. It has become my spa home away from home. I encourage you to try it out for yourself. You will not be dissapointed,

Bad staff/Disappointing facility
The website pics look a lot nicer than the actual place - it is small and dark. The steamroom is hardly steamy. And the admin staff is terrible. We waited for our treatments and were told there was a 15 min. delay - then it would be 30 min. Then, mine started but my daughter had to wait a bit more.... and more... After waiting 70 min., we left. Each "apologetic" staffer had a different explanation. A customer in the locker room had her service delayed for 60 minutes and got an even different story. On the bright side, it was clean, the russian spa was very, very hot and the plautza treatment was interesting. But I would never go back there.

A hidden surprise
I was taken to this spa with a group of friends for a surprise b-day celebration. From outside I wasn't sure what to expect but once I stepped inside I was blown away. It has a modern feel to it, was very comfortable and most importantly was spotless! I had a great massage and enjoyed a nice lunch and a cocktail (yes they have a bar) but the best part was the area they call the wet lounge. It's a large space where you can use steam/saunas and jacuzzi and just relax. I've never been to a spa in NYC that didn't push you out the door once your service is over. Understandable as most spas in the city have space constraints but this place was pretty large so I guess it doesn't present a problem for them. It was able to spend the whole afternoon with friends just enjoying the day. A perfect b-day! I'm a bit of a spa snob but I have to say I loved this place. What made it stand out for me was the staff. There was one guy there with long-ish hair who seemed to be in charge. He really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. The extra effort made me feel very special. I would highly recommend this spa.
