Groupon Deal

I bought the 3 body wraps deal on Groupon. The description states the purchase is for 3 - 60 min body wraps. I chose the hot fango lava mud wrap. I was shown into the room, where I laid on what felt like a warm piece of wax, that just covered the middle of my back, for about 5 mins, then received a light leg and foot massage. The whole experience was 25 mins. Before I left, after tipping , I asked why it was only 25 mins, I thought it was an hour and she told me that " no, since its a discount purchase, you dont get the full 50 mins" ???? I didnt have the ad with me, so I didnt press it. I have nott received any calls back yet.....

Nice little boutique spa

I went to this spa because I had a certificate to use and wanted to find a place somewhat closer to home than the other spa I went to. I also wanted a place that didn't smell like hair chemicals or would not be fast-paced as you would find at a spa that does hair because I was getting a massage and wanted it to be a calm atmosphere. (My research indicates there's not many spas in the area that satisfy this criteria!) This was a good fit for my needs. I do have to say that the building is on a very busy road and I could hear the traffic a bit from the lower level during my service. Perhaps some insulation might help? It also is very affordable, and they have Tue-Fri cash specials that are very inexpensive! e.g., $50 for 50 min massage. The massage was good, I will go back again. I have to note that the negative review relating to the "basement" is unfair. Technically, it is the basement, but it doesn't feel like that at all, it's all finished and pleasantly decorated/furnished. "Lower level" is more appropriate.

Mom & Daughter

I would highly recommend this spa to anyone in need of relaxation thearpy in a charming tranquil atmosphere. I was in town visiting my Mom who was having health problems & booked this sight unseen. When we arrived to this boutique spa the staff was professional, friendly, & attentive. My mom had a 1 hr. massage, I had reflexology. Both of us were very pleased. Since then I have been giving gift certificates to her and my sisters for special occasions. A delightful experience.

Wonderful!

I had a spafinder gift certificate and chose this spa to use it in based on reviews and closeness to my home. I came in and was immediately brought to the "Quiet Room". The receptionist was pleasant, and gave me a menu of drinks. She came back a few minutes later and took my drink order. The chilled apple cider was wonderful. Tiffany, my massage therapist, came to get me a few minutes later. She gave me a wonderful deep tissue massage. Due to her small stature, I feared she would not be able to apply the pressure I wanted. But, boy was I wrong. She did a wonderful job of working out my knots, and made the whole thing a pleasant experience. I would completely recommend her and the whole spa.

I came to Somata off the recommendation of a friend and the experience was to die for! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The therapists are knowledgable and accommodating. I had the Swedish massage and left feeling like a bowl of jello!

Bridal Party Wreck

The maid of honor set up appointments for 7 of us to receive manis & pedis. They took us into a little room in the basement, yuck. They started myself (mother of the bride) & the bride with a pedi (using protable footbaths). 5 of the girls got regular manicures, no pedis. I got a manicure. When they found out the bride wanted fake nails, they didn't have time for that or any other pedis. Really? They couldn't take care of the bride? Just said sorry but they didn't book us enough time. I sent her elsewhere, where they took care of her right away. Nasty place in the basement & very expensive for what you recieved. Would NEVER recomend them for anything.

Response from Somata Spa

Unfortunately, this is an example of not booking in time and carefully reading the menu. Somata Spa has not offered acrylic nails (fake nails) for over four years, due to the chemicals and products involved. The bridal party also changed their services several times within a three day time span, making it very difficult to accommodate their needs for the time that they booked. Somata Spa has two levels-an upper and a lower. Our lower level is divided into a deluxe suite with a separate sitting room for couples packages and single massages, a facial room, a manicure/pedicure room, a sitting room decorated with plush furniture, fountain, and antique pieces, a make-up counter, and a dining area for those who wish to include this feature in their service. It is not quite the "basement" atmosphere described above. The spa manicures that were included in the bridal party's services were $25 each for a 30 minute service.

Amazing spa experience

I have visited Somata Spa a few times now. The owners have truly gone out of their way to create a lovely atmosphere. As soon as you walk in, they begin treating you special by offering you a cafe drink and taking you to their relaxation room. Each visit has been wonderful from start to finish. The staff is friendly and professional too.
