A Beautiful Day/Nani La 'Ao Rainforest Spa

As soon as I drove up the driveway I knew I was someplace special. It looked: like a scene from "Lord of the Rings" with those huge colorful eucalyptus trees. The entire place was like a tropicalbotanical garden, and the raw pahoehoe lava was awesome. Some would say this place has "mana" and I would agree. I could sense that there is a special healing magic there, I could feel it. And how very lucky for me that Sherry has chosen to spend some of her artistic talents in the healing arts. I decided to get a Lomilomi massage. She used warm stones, and then I had a citrus and seaweed facial with a body scrub and a lava mud bodywrap. I was so relaxed. This experience is something I will long treasure. It was such a treat, so rejuvenating, and not nearly as expensive as those luxury spas, nor as stuffy. No big buildings, crowds, parking lots, shuffling people. Just me and all that juicy nature. It's just what I wanted. A place to feel the earth, and refresh and gladden my senses in a truly special place that shows reverence for the land. At "A Beautiful Day" so many things were growing and blooming.I was lucky enough to be able to hear the rain during my spa treatment, it was soooo soothing. I hope to return one day soon! (sigh)

If you live a busy lifestyle, take a load off and relax!!!My experiance at this spa was E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T. My husband and I live in the hustle and bussle of a big city and are ALWAYS running around.. never having the time to relax.I heard through a few friends of mine at work that there was this beautiful spa on the Big Island of Hawaii... where my husband was scheduled to go to for business anyways had had invited me along...! "PERFECT" I thought. A day to get away, do some sightseeing, shopping, have some piece and quiet, get back to nature and RELAX! A bit of a drive, but the quietness and relaxation you get is worth it doublefold.When I arrived and were also greeted with fresh flowers and a warm welcome. Staying in the treehouse was pretty cool! Felt like I was camping, and I LOVE camping when I have the time! The fresh air, clean sheets.... and wonderful selection of fruit and things for breakfast... I think was the most relaxed I have been in a while.I was slated for a massage later in the day, and man oh man... lets just say I felt like I was part of the table.... melted right in.... I didn't want to leave!!!Totally worth it. I cant wait till we get the time to go back!!!

I was astonished that such a place even existed anymore. This is one of those rare gems that one discovers after an exhaustive search. This unique, enchanted "handcrafted spa" is located in an actual rainforest. Treatments are one at a time. Flowers and trees are everywhere. Most products used are derived from the plants and trees growing right on the property. This is an organic, biodynamic farm, almost completely sustainable and with great attention to permaculture. I loved the artistic touches everywhere and handmade items. There were beautiful touches to detail throughout, and I especially liked the handbuilt waterfall/ pond directly in front of the darling little spa. But by far, the most amazing part of this experience was the expertise, professionalism and gifted hands of the massage therapist, Sherri Cardfen. I have had hundreds of massages in my lifetime but this was "hands down" (no pun intended) the best massage I have ever received. She is guided to work on the most needed areas of my body with her strong hands, used the warm stones and gently scented oils to deepen the experience and enhance the healing process. I felt my muscles relax, my pain gone. Amazing experience, perfect for nature lovers.

This is out in the sticks at a rural home, prettyrustic/farm- hippie-ish. Fine if thats what you are looking for but just know this isnt a fancy 'spa', but 'local style'. FYI

I have been to A Beautiful Day a number of times and consider Sheri's massage the best I've ever had. She is very professional, yet warm and caring. The hot rocks she uses help make the massage deep and relaxing.The setting of her spa in a rain forest is also spectacular.

By far one of the greatest experince's I could of ever asked for. Hands down the finest spa I've ever been to. With stunning views, unrivaled attentiveness, and the most beautiful scenery anywhere in the world. Being pampered in the middle of rainforest has to be greatest experience anyone could ask for. If you've been here then you know exactly what I'm talking about, if not then you MUST book your spa treatments now they will sell out fast.

I had just been through probably the most difficult six months of my life when I arrived on the Hilo side of the Big Island. My luggage was nowhere to be found, my rental car was nonexistent and I was actually supposed to have landed in Kona. Luckily somebody told me about "A Beautiful Day" and I was able to book a night there as well as a spa package.When I arrived I was greeted with fresh flowers and a beautiful welcome basket with fresh tropical fruits, an assortment of teas, coffee and muffins. Later, I thought I'd melted and gone to heaven as I sat in the luxurious bubble tub filled with mango and lavender salts.Afterwards I treated myself to a sumptious facial and lomi lomi massage with warm stones and pineapple oil. Afterwards I floated off to sleep.When I awoke the next morning I thought I was in another world. The huge magnificent trees overlooked my bedroom window and I heard the trickling of the nearby little waterfall. I met the friendly animals and was told that my rental car was ready and my luggage had arrived.I was so glad to find this enchanting, magical place. Thank you!

My husband and I were totally amazed at the beauty of this location. We loved our warm stone lomi lomi massages with pineapple oil. We enjoyed our facials and the lavish papaya salt and bubbles in the hydrotherapy tub. We would absolutely recommend this location to anyone visiting East Hawaii. We had booked a trip in Kona but wanted to visit the volcano. So we were glad this place had overnight accommodations, and we were even treated to an amazing goodie basket upon arrival. The trees and the cute animals were great too, and there were so many quiet, special places on the property to visit. We were completely satisfied, and would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to get away from the usual hustle bustle of the crowds, the noise clamor of the big hotels. I was totally amazed at how beautiful this location was. Best of all, it was completely private and serene.
