My husband and I come to Mirbeau every year for our anniversary, this June it will be our 10th time. This is an experience everyone must have. The Spa is to die for! I absolutely love everything about it and it is the most relaxing place on earth. I especially love the aqua terrace. The treatment rooms are beautifully decorated and every second you are in the room with the masseuse is choreographed to make you feel relaxed.

It was a great place, with descent service, except for dinning. I purchased an all inclusive package which included my stay, food, wine, and massages. I constantly had to remind them that I already paid for everything. With that said, I went to dinner there, ordered what I paid for, then got an additional $88 bill. I did not order anything extra. Embarrassed for having to dispute the charges in front of my date, and ruining my realizing stay, I just paid and left.
I called the next day to see what happened only to find out that they charged me another $181 that I didn't authorize. They couldn't even tell me what it was for and agreed to refund me. The additional $88 at dinner was found to be an "open bottle fee." Seeing that I already paid for it, they again refunded my money.
Unfortunately this ruined my experience. You pay for quality service at a place like this, and I was very disappointed. Im just glad I checked my credit card bill, because Im sure the charges would've went through.

Had a great day with my sister at Mirbeau! Both of our facial treatments were absolutely wonderful and worth every penny! We were both unimpressed with our massage services.......not bad, but not great. We felt as though we should have asked for recommendations as to which massage therapists were really good before booking our treatments. My sister also had a body scrub done and absolutely raved about it! We would definitely go back now that we inquired about which massage therapists were worth the $$$.
All-in-all, a great day of spa treatments considering the aqua terrace, relaxation room, and saunas are bonuses!

I had the most wonderful time with my girlfriends for a 30th birthday celebration at Mirbeau! The amenities are beautiful - from the fireplace and foot soak in the waiting area to the hot tub grotto outside. You feel like you are somewhere in the countryside of France instead of an hour from home in Upstate New York. Our spa attendants were polite, helpful, fun and had excellent recommendations for area attractions and shopping. I will definitely be going back.

My husband and I went here in December for a weekend away (sorely needed). Wow, we both said "why dont we do this more often?" The facility is gorgeous, the relaxation room and outdoor jacuzzi are unbelievable. Loved being able to walk around in our robes all day if we wanted. The rooms are stunning also, like a country lodge with wood beams and gorgeous facilities. The staff was very polite - I had to call a few months later because of a charge I was confused about and got a callback immediately from a manager. The restaurant was nice, the food didnt blow us away but being able to enjoy everything on site made up for it. We are planning on making this a yearly experience. I have no idea why people spend triple on Canyon Ranch when they can come here.

The spa was loud and the staff is RUDE! There was not a seat for me when I was waiting for my massage. I had to stand. When I spoke with the manager, she told me that there was outside seating. It was 14 outside that day! At that point, the manager and a staff member began to laugh. I left and was still charged for a treatment that was never done!!!!!! I thought the point of a Spa is to relax.......no seats for guests!!!! overbooked and rude!

I normally would never spend this kind of money for one day but the amenities make a lot of it worth it. The treatment was very well done and really made me feel relaxed afterwards. The ameneties provided let me really extend the benefits of the treatment by letting me relax to the fullest. This is obviously a place I could only go once in a very great while due to the price but I think I would go again. The restaurant was also very good and the special that month was $40 towards dinner with a 100 minute treatment which helped.

I had a mud treatment followed by a massage which were both terrific!! Unfortunatly I found them under staffed though. When attempting to place an order at the bar (outdoors /hot tub area) there often was no bartender to be found. Also I waited quite a long time ( 20 MIN +) for my treatments even though I was scheduled and on time. No-one even offered an explaination , I simply sat and waited (Very boring and I began to get irritated which is not what one goes to a spa for) The ladies locker room was a mess . The first shower I tried only produced scaulding water and therefore I had to move to the next shower. There were dirty/used towels everywhere. A puddle of water near my locker almost caused me a good fall. So although the treatment and massage were out of this world the rest of the spa was very disappointing.

Had a most romantic, pampered birthday weekend at Mirbeau--we had a couples massage at night (you can have them draw a bath for you and get a massage in the tub in your own suite of you like!), had breakfast delivered to our room the next morning, enjoyed the hot tub, the tranquility room, having lunch in our spa robes, dinner next door at Rosalie's Cucina, and then a facial before leaving the next day. Their motto is "We want to exceed your expectations," and they did!

This was my first visit to Mirbeau. I wish I booked my trip in the spring/summer months so I could better enjoy what must be very lovely grounds, when not covered in snow!
Check in was quick and painless and the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are nicely sized with a small gas fireplace, ample storage, two sinks in the bath, with separate large tiled shower and soaking tub. The bed was extremely comfortable and the beautiful linens reminded me of Cote d'Azure. Very pretty!
I received several treatments at the spa. The spa was clean and the locker rooms were large and featured a steam room, sauna, showers, and sinks. There were hair dryers and products for your use along with stacks of clean towels and ice-water soaked cloths for refreshment. Cucumber water jugs are all over. There is an aqua terrace outside the relaxation room with a large fireplace, huge hot tub, and small win bar (with tapas if you like). The treatments were professionally administered by spa technicians who knew what they were about and did not try to hawk products during your service.
There is a surprisingly large fitness room with treadmills, exercise bikes, weight machines, and free weights. They also have a yoga studio for classes.
The spa is just outside of Skaneateles, which is a lovely town with shops and restaurants right at the edge of the sparkling blue lake. In the summer this is probably a terrific spot for sailing and water sports.
There is a wine bar in the spa main building with a wine tasting area. I loved sampling the different vintage and blends in the cruvinet.
A few areas for improvement would be the service variety and the meals. I believe they have a new chef so when I return maybe they will have improved.

I've been here several times. The facility is lovely. It's a place where you can spend the entire day. My treatments there have been very good.
I love lounging around the shallow pool indoors. Also love the outdoor jetted spa. It's large and nicely designed, private with a big fireplace. Totally yummy. The grounds are beautiful as well.

First time I went was for my surprise Xmas gift from my husband. I had a day spa package. Wonderful!! It was lovely relaxing and enjoying the spa. After my massage I was given strawberries and chmapagne. I felt so special. Everyone knew my name and greated me by my name. Great service. I then had lunch, and the sevice was fantastic. Very expensive, but worth it.
Next time I went, my husband and had dinner there. We had the 'John Russ.' It is fine dinning, 7 course meal. Wonderful!! Very expensive. We spent almost $500 for our meals, but it was something you do on special occassions. We loved it!!
We have an appointment next week for our spa treatments. We are doing a 2 hour side by side massage with bath tub in front of the fire. We are excited!! I am sure we will be spending another $500 or so, but I love feeling pampered! Why not?!! We work hard for our money and make enough! Love this place!!

I went to mirbeau last summer for a full day package; it cost an arm and a let, which would have been fine if the service was decent. It was horrible. AND I did say something before I left that day at the front desk, which, they did not care to hear. I had a hot oil body treatment. When, after taking the shower, the lady came in to do the hot oil and proceded to pour sculding oil down my back. I screamed and jumped away, and told her it was TOO HOT!! but she said that it was the correct temp. She proceded to burn me again, and I told her to stop! I had red burn marks on my skin!, The bar by the pool serves 14.00 glasses of wine in a plastic cup! and the place stunk like a wet, musty dish rag. The hair dryer blew a fuse and FIRE shot out of the blower end! Was yelled at for talking TOO loud around the pond, feet soaking area. PLEASE! I was not loud, i was talking normal. I sat alone in the pond area, 20 minutes alone, because the HOT OIL lady forgot she had an appointment; ME. I will never go there ever again. It was dirty too.

I lived in CNY for about 6 years and came across Mirbeau when looking for a romantic and relaxing getaway. How lucky that I found Mirbeau. This was the first spa experience for both my husband and I, and I feel that we have been spoiled and will always hold every place we go to to their high standards. Even during our first visit while construction was taking place for their gratto, it was still a wonderful experience. The rooms are luxurious, warm and romantic. Room service was great, a bit pricy for me, but prompt service nonetheless. You will not want to leave the property for meals or entertainment, but if you do, you will not be disappointed in the choices. The spa area has amazing ambience. The relaxation room was so soothing that it never failed that once I laid down I would take a nap and its very very difficult for me to take naps. The masseurs were always pleasant and provided amazing experiences. Not once did I have any issues with cleanliness or promptness of service as other reviewers have complained about. Perhaps they had the rare bad experience. We moved across country, and have been to another spa since that does not compare at all to Mirbeau. It is likely that we will have to take a nice vacation back to CNY just to relax at Mirbeau.

What a disappointing experience. I spent a weeekend in late spring here and arrived when the air conditioning was not working. Instead of telling me that at check in, I had to keep calling the front desk and ask them to fix the system in my room. Finally, the bellman told me it had not been working all week and a part would arrive on Monday (after I left). Management acted like I was crazy, and I was told to open my doors to the patio (on the first floor....didn't these guys ever hear about safety for women in a hotel?) Upon arrival, I order a botte of champagne, some cheese, crackers and fruit. Tray was delivered with no napkins, no glasses for the champage (oh, use the ones in your room, I was told), and no tableware. (use my fingers?). I had to call the restaurant who acted like I was asking them for a million dollars. The next morning, we had scheduled early spa treatments. Wake up call did not come. I quickly went to the dining area and arrived at 8:05. There was one other table with two people who were finishing their breakfast. I told server I had spa treatments at 9:00 and requested that breakfast come quickly. Breakfast arrived at 8:48. (nothing fancy).
When I checked out, I asked to speak with the manager (a former skiier who supposedly did an internship at a 4 Seasons in New England. This I guess made him qualified to run the spa. (Oh, he had been promoted from the spa's fitness director). He was not on the premise and I was told he would contact me. I'm still waiting three months later.
The staff at Mirbeau are not skilled in high level service, but I know and do believe that they can learn, if MANAGEMENT TEACHES THEM.
Shame on Mirbeau's owners for allowing this wonderful concept and formerly great place to be like this. Shame on you. You are missing a wonderful opportunity.

I surprised my husband with a trip to Mirbeau for our 10 year anniversary. We were in heaven from the minute we pulled into the inn and spa and did not want to leave. We scheduled a couples massage for the day of our anniversary and I can honestly say, I have never been more relaxed. The facility is gorgeous with every amenity that you could think of. The massages were the best that either of us have ever had. The heated foot bath was something that we enjoyed before and after the massage. We also enjoyed the amazing aqua terrace where we sat in the 15 person hot tub while sipping champagne. It was an unbelievable experience and one that we have vowed to continue year after year, if not sooner!

My husband and I stayed at Mirbeau for our wedding night. We had never been before but had heard many great things from family and friends. We couldn't have been happier!
Not only did the front desk congratulate us on our marriage when we checked in but there was a card from the staff waiting for us in our room!
The Aqua Terrace was very romantic and the gardens were just starting to bloom (we stayed in early May).
When we returned to the room, our bed had been turned down and fresh towels had been stocked along with a list of movies available from the hotel and a note telling us of tomorrow weather and events.
Everyone was so nice to us that we hated to leave the next day! We will certainly be back very soon!

This really is our favorite spa. But our last visit was disappointing. The meditating room where you wait to be called for your treatment was messy. No one was replacing the towels that cover the lounge chairs. I had to go back into the locker room to get my own. The lavatory in the women's locker room was dirty. No one was checking on that either. Maybe it was just a day when they were shortstaffed. The new teas that were available were quite nice. Don't order a glass of wine. It was too expensive. The teas are complimentary.

I have been to this spa several times since its opening. I have been disappointed over some services but pleased with other aspects of my stay. First visit was with my husband ,a special present for me for my birthday. Our room was lovely and spacious but the next morning we couldn't get breakfast or even a cup of coffee at the dining room. My husband refuses to go back with me. I have since returned with my daughter and enjoyed a gourmet French dinner in the dining room. Very expensive but worth the splurge. On the way out I asked at the desk if I could see one of their rooms in the main Inn since I have only stayed in the cottages. I was refused, even though it was after check out time and many of the rooms were empty. The overall atmosphere is pretentious and not as welcoming as I would have liked.I am going again very soon with a friend to give them another try. Lets hope this time is better!

Rooms & Dining
Each of Mirbeau Inn and Spa's 34 guest rooms is elegantly furnished in a French country style with a fireplace, a huge soaking tub for relaxation after a day of exercise, TV, VCR, DSL, and a spectacular view of either an Impressionist garden or fragrant pine trees.
In keeping with the French country impressionist theme, the dining room is decorated with provincial antiques and paintings. Dining at the award-winning Mirbeau is a delight enjoyed by Inn guests and non-guests alike. The country, health-conscious cuisine is inspired by French traditions and based on the incredible regional ingredients found in the Finger Lakes region. Signature dishes express the variety of a painter's palette and include Sauteed Hudson Valley Fois Gras with Local Apple Crepes and Strawberry Gastrique and Maine Lobster Bouillabaisse with Spicy Red Pepper Rouille and Saffron Broth. An extensive wine list showcases wines from the Finger Lakes regions, such as Heron Hill Reserve Chardonnay and Prejean Reisling.
