  Classic elegance and signature St. Regis service embrace visitors of the St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort, which affords regal views of both the dark blue sea and of the Tramuntana mountain range's craggy peaks. Located on the southwestern side of Spain's island Mallorca, near the east coast of the Iberian Peninsula, the resort complements the design aesthetic of the Balearic Islands and is home to the colossal Arabella Spa, where treatments are guided by western and eastern therapies, including traditional Chinese medicine. The resort hosts a total of 133 rooms: 44 Grand Deluxe Rooms, 80 Junior Suites and nine one- and two-bedroom suites, some of which feature a private swimming pool or a Jacuzzi. Guests interested in exploring the local area will enjoy the short stroll to the Puerto Portals yacht marina, or can take advantage of the resort’s limousine services, which provide transfers to the capital city of Palma, just a few miles away.

  The St. Regis Mardavall is closed from November 27 through January 12.

One of Europe’s largest spa facilities, the 4,700-square-meter Arabella Spa has 13 treatment rooms and a menu combining classic, holistic treatments such as traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, thalassotherapy and nutritional consultations. Hydrobaths, marine extract wraps and scrubs, along with a full menu of shiatsu, reflexology, Swedish and sport massages, are but a few of the many procedures available. The spa’s signature treatment, the Four-Hand Polynesian Massage utilizes hot stones and two therapists to embody the harmonizing of body and mind. Spa products used include Anne Semonin, Ligne St. Barth, Shiseido and organic cosmetic line Sacred Nature.

Following a spa service, guests can continue the calming experience by relaxing on plush chairs in the relaxation room, or unwind in the steam bath, whirlpool or sauna areas. The sprawling spa’s decadent setting also boasts three indoor and outdoor swimming pools, including one sourced with seawater.

The winter season invites children under the age of 12 years with adult supervision; children 16 years and older are permitted during the summer season.

Cocooned amidst enchanting sea, garden or mountain vistas are the 133 guest rooms and suites fashioned in Mediterranean style, handsome furnishings and high-tech amenities. Accoutrements include Bang & Olufsen satellite TVs, iPod docking stations, DSL Internet access and DVD/CD players, and most of the accommodations have intimately lit private terraces that overlook water views. Each room is thoughtfully appointed with a 7-zone latex mattress trimmed in a feather duvet and Egyptian cotton and satin sheets, along with a marble bathroom outfitted in heated floors, oversized bathtub, 13-inch LCD TV and L’Occitane products. One- and two-bedroom suites come complete with kitchenettes; the Blue Oasis Suite also has a heated pool and private garden, while the Mardavall Diamond Suite has a private Jacuzzi.

Culinary delights include Aqua, a stylish eatery with a Majorcan-type design aesthetic and a modern Mediterranean-inspired menu. Dishes showcase a plethora of fresh, regional produce and imported delicacies from Spain and Italy, which guests can enjoy alfresco, looking out onto lush garden views, or indoors, which allows them to watch chefs prepare their meal before them. Gourmet breakfast buffet is also served, and theme evenings occur twice a week. Highlights of Es Fum restaurant include gourmet fare, under the creation of chef Thomas Kahl, an extensive wine list and astounding sunset views of the shoreline.

A rich array of recreational activities keeps resort guests relaxed or invigorated year round. The St. Regis has a fitness center and personal training services, which allow guests terrific opportunity to exercise and revitalize; exercise fans can also take advantage of the jogging track, which winds throughout the manicured grounds, or the tennis courts, located 500 meters from the resort. A scattering of whirlpools, hot tubs, steam baths and saunas are spread throughout the property, and five swimming pools, one of which is reserved for child visitors, set the tone for a stress-free day.

For side trips, the Puerto Portals yacht marina is only two minutes away from the resort by foot, while the nearby walled capital city of Palma is home to the 700-year-old Bellver Castle, a stunning cathedral, the cobblestone streets of Old Palma, and many shops and restaurants. Golf enthusiasts have a selection of four nearby courses, comprising a total of 63 championship holes.
