Received first degree burns and NO reimbursement!!

I was on my third treatment for laser hair removal. During the treatment I stated how badly it hurt, and how I didn't remember it hurting this bad last time. She was INCREDIBLY RUDE and stated that it was a laser not a toy, and that I should have bought the numming cream. Turns out the next day I had first degree burns all over my right under arm. I went to see their doctor and he confirmed the burns and wrote me some prescriptions stating that he would refund my money and pay for the prescriptions. Then days later decided he wasn't going to reimburse me for anything; EVEN THE PRESCRIPTIONS. On top of this event, I had my apts. changed without notice TWICE. Worst experience ever and I suggest NEVER going to this "spa".

Bachlorette Party at the Spa!

I planned a bachlorette party here! Regena, the manager, did a great job communicating with me to give my friend the party of her dreams! All the staff were very friendly and treated all of the ladies like queens! The actual spa is absolutely GORGEOUS! We truly didn't want to leave. You feel like you have escaped to another world when you are there. I personally recieved a facial, brow wax, and massage. I have never had a facial or massage before this. Both staff member took their time explaining to me what they were going to do. During the facial, the esthctian (sp?) told me what she was putting on my face and what they benefits were. During my massage, the massuese made me very comfortable, making sure I wasn't too exposed by tucking the sheets in. Both services were AMAZING!!! I am so glad that I planned the bachlorette party here. It will be unforgettable.

A Regular Client

I've been a regular client for about 10 months and rate their facials and laser treatments as very good. I also like the fact they can usually work you in on short notice (2 days). The aestheticians, especially Kelly, are knowledgeable and professional...but as some other reviewers have stated, the phone/front desk staff needs improvement.
The only negative experience I had was a botox treatment that caused some bruising around my hairline but that can happen.
I love the atmosphere which is warm and relaxing. In winter months, there's a fireplace going in the waiting room. The spa is well maintained and clean. The medical dr. is available to discuss treatments and has always taken time to answser my questions. I've never felt like he's trying to sell me a service I don't need.
I've never had a massage here so can't comment about that experience.

Nasty staff, bad service, waste of time and money. I left feeling totally upset. Never go.
Found this place on Spafinder and all I can think is that the good reviews were faked by their own staff.
The reality is that this is a bad place.
Steer clear of the injections.... cuz the place is shared with infectious disease patients....ugh.

Response from House of Elan
Disgruntled ex-employees can use this review space as they wish unfortunately!
It's odd that no one by this name had services at the spa from Sept. through December.
I believe every Dr's office has some sort of patients with infections or disease.

my husband gave me a spafinder gift certificate for our anniversary so i went online to find the best one in my area. i was a little surprised when i read the reviews for house of elan because they were so conflicting, but the pictures were beautiful so i thought i would give it a shot. from the moment i walked through the door i was treated with generosity and respect. i went in for just a facial, but after my conversation with the esthetician and seeing how knowledgeable she was, i purchased 2 more services including botox! my entire experience at the house of elan was pure bliss and beyond what i could have ever expected. i truly found the entire staff to be personable and well educated in their respective fields. DO NOT BELIEVE THE BAD REVIEWS! i would recommend this spa to anyone that wants a first class experience!

Awful staff and terrible service.Building may be decorated but that only goes so far. No one I know ever goes again.Never.Now I know why.
I hated the overt meanness and bad attitude of the staff and poor service.Dirty bathroom too. Really sick infected people are using the main bathroom! Yuck and potentially dangerous.
I went to enjoy and be kind and was mistreated on every level. I wonder if the staff is trained properly beyond the very lowest basics and just acting superior to compensate for truly poor services.

I found House of Elan on spafinder.com, and it was the first spa that populated. Online pictures looked nice, it was reviewed favorably so I gave it a try. Oh wow was I disappointed. I asked (and paid for) something that was supposed to be a relaxing massage. It was NOT a massage. My "masseuse" used Vaseline Intensive Therapy LOTION instead of massage oil, and she sort of lightly touched me instead of giving me a massage. I'm pretty sure she didn't have any idea what she was doing. My boyfriend can give me a WAY better massage, with oil, and I would have been more relaxed, and saved the $85 plus tip. What a waste of time, effort, and money.

My first trip at this beautiful spa was an experience in iit's self.
It was like walking into another world with out traveling. I was taken on the grand tour and was treated like a queen. Not only was I treated this way on my first visit but on every visit. The girls are very friendly and very helpful. The waterfall is so relaxing while you wait upstairs in the beautiful living room where you have access to the kitchen for gormet coffee, bottled water or just sit out in the breath taking court yard where you can relax by the pool. Soothing music, where you can relax and be pampered while waiting for a wonderful facial, massage, botox, laser hair removal and many many more treatments too numerous to mention. If you are in Kansas City for vacation, Christmas Lights on the Plaza, or just visiting, be sure to call for an appointment at this med spa. It is an experience you will never forget and it will make you want to come back for many more visits.

I never knew such a place existed right here on the plaza. A true delight, and the attentive staff make it an awsome experience. No other spa here comes close. I almost hate to pass on the secret. I will be back again and again.
