About Acqualina Resort & Spa on the Beach

On the water in Sunny Isles, in the northern part of the city, Acqualina's 51-story Mediterranean-style tower evokes the city's classic 1950s-era grand hotels. The heart of the resort is the two-story, 20,000-square-foot ESPA, the U.S. flagship of the British-based spa company, which is known for its customized treatment rituals and rigorous therapist training. The hotel has 97 guest rooms and suites and four pools: one is exclusively for spa guests, another for adults only, and two others for couples and families alike. Acqualina's three restaurants include the indoor-outdoor house restaurant Aaria, which specializes in Mediterranean coastal cuisine; a branch of New York's Il Mulino for delectable Italian fare; and a casual beachfront café. For children, an educational, marine biology-based program is offered. An 18-hole golf course is nearby. Meeting space accommodates up to 130.

Menu of Services

Guests of ESPA at Acqualina are greeted with a cool, scented towel and an amuse bouche-size smoothie, and are led to the hydrotherapy facilities, which are recommended before treatments. Time spent in the beautifully tiled circular crystal steam room, the dry Finnish sauna, and the nautilus-shape experience shower (with color therapy and aromatherapy) is meant to jumpstart the benefits of treatments. An outdoor heated lap pool (25 feet; eight meters long) and whirlpool, and terrace are reserved for spa guests. Smoothies, salads, and wraps from the organic spa cuisine menu are served on the spa terrace.

The relaxation room, lined with daybeds strewn with silk throws, faces the spa pool and ocean, as do many of the 16 treatment rooms. All but four of these have private showers, and a suite for two has its own glass-walled steam room.

A hallmark of ESPA is its rigorous staff training. Each therapist is certified in massage and aesthetics, so guests need not move rooms or be inconvenienced by a change in therapists for services. As a result, treatment rituals move seamlessly from salt scrubs and marine wraps to Ayurvedic and Thai massage to holistic facials. Rituals are booked by length of time, and the particulars are decided upon with the therapist at the start of the session.

Popular two- and four-hour spa packages include the Ocean Journey, a body wrap with algae or mud followed by a massage, and the Ayurvedic Experience, a hot stone massage using chakra balancing techniques, followed by shirodhara, a stream of warm oil applied to the forehead, and a facial. For women who are expecting or nursing, the spa offers a maternity massage and body treatment. Day spa clients are welcome, as well as children 16 and up. A fitness center with personal training and salon for hair, nail, and waxing services are also available.

Awesome!
This is by far my favorite spa in Miami (and I have tried many!). The massages and facials and wonderful, but what really puts it over the top is the facilities. The steam room is gorgeous. There are rainforest showers. And the sauna is really nice, too. You won't regret choosing this spa. (And they take part in Miami Spa Month.)

Beautiful Place, SteamRoom Decadent!
This spa is really beautiful. The resort itself is quite nice, with lovely places to dine. You can go upscale, or semi-upscale-which is what we chose for our lunch. I went with a group of girls for a 40th birthday celebration. Workout room was ok,nothing too fabulous- sort of small, but serves the purpose of feeling like you accomplished something before you do nothing at all. The ambiance is fantastic. The steam room is completely decadent with a way to somehow recline as you steam. Delightful!!!!

great service
I visited Aqualina a few months after it opened. The service was great, I had worked at a five star spa myself so my expectations were high. The service from the spa attendants was wonderful. The atmosphere was very quiet and relaxed. We were able to use the pool that was specifically for the spa which some spas only allow hotel guests to use. We also ordered lunch and made a great day out of only have one service each. The water experiences in the relaxation area had a nice variety.

Great Amenities
The steam room is is incredible! Even the seating is so comfortable, unlike many other places. We had a relaxing afternoon with lunch outside. The waterfall jacuzzi outside was relaxing and quiet. Delicious gourmet and fresh fruit were abundant in the relaxation room. Great place to" unwind" from Miami's "grind." Spend the day here and renew yourself in style!

Pampering at its finest
My best friend and I do an extended spa week end each spring. We had the most wonderful experience here last March. Service was top notch, staff was most helpful and the spa treatments were some of the best we have experienced. We got a cabana by the adult only pool and this was well worth the extra cost. Staff attention was phenomenal and service was quick. I would highly recommend this property and spa for any one looking for a relaxing, no worries stay. You will leave feeling pampered and relaxed. Will probably return this year. Why tamper with perfection.

Memorable facial
Spa was relaxing - facial was great - next time I will come earlier and spend time on the beach and have lunch by the pool in addition to having a spa treatment. Didn't stay overnight - was just a day guest - but was happy to see that they had an Il Mulino Restaurant too.
