On the water in Sunny Isles, in the northern part of the city, Acqualina's 51-story Mediterranean-style tower evokes the city's classic 1950s-era grand hotels. The heart of the resort is the two-story, 20,000-square-foot (1,858-square-meter) ESPA, the U.S. flagship of the British-based spa company, which is known for its customized treatment rituals and rigorous therapist training. The hotel has 97 guest rooms and suites and four pools: one is exclusively for spa guests, another for adults only, and two others for couples and families alike. Acqualina's three restaurants include the indoor-outdoor house restaurant Aaria, which specializes in Mediterranean coastal cuisine; a branch of New York's Il Mulino for delectable Italian fare; and a casual beachfront café. For children, an educational, marine biology-based program is offered. An 18-hole golf course is nearby. Meeting space accommodates up to 130.
