Accommodating all types of visitors, from leisure travelers to business professionals, the Stamford Marriott Hotel and Spa is an AAA Diamond fixture in downtown Stamford. At the heart of the hotel's elegant interiors, occupying the second floor, is the full-service Agora Spa. Inside the tranquil 3,600-square-foot Agora, derived from the Greek word "to gather," guests are immersed in results-oriented therapies from a comprehensive spa menu and relaxing amenities that include six treatment rooms, healthful cuisine and separate lounge areas.
The hotel provides 508 guest rooms and two distinct dining options, including a bar lounge with music. The Stamford Town Center Mall is across the street, and dining and nightlife entertainment are nearby.

As its name suggests, Agora, or "to gather," is dedicated to providing a calming sanctuary for guests. The spa, open seven days a week, has six treatment rooms, including a couple's room; there is also a steam room, and locker rooms come equipped with Swiss and rain showers. Separate men's and women's lounges enhance the relaxation experience, offering flat-screen TVs, light refreshments from the spa dining menu and couches.
The spa menu includes massage, body treatments, and a varying number of skincare services, including collagen facials, natural (nonsurgical) facelifts and microdermabrasion. Guests can also opt for the signature Agora Perfect Spa Journey, which combines a toning body wrap with a blend of oils and lotions, a customized facial, scalp massage and aromatherapy facial mask. There are also several treatments tailored to gentlemen spa-goers.
Guests ages 13 years and older are invited to the spa; they must be 16 years and older to partake in a facial or massage treatment.

My massage and reflexology with Vilma was nothing short of A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! She is also a licensed physical therapist. She found all the trouble spots and spent the time working on them. It was beyond my expectations. Definitely the best massage I have ever had!

Had a GREAT facial but only and ok massage. It was nice to go to the spa and then to stay at the hotel it was located in. Great for a girlfriends get away. Need to choose high pressure massage if you want to feel it, I felt the touch was too light.

I recently took 8 women to Agora for a women's getaway. Some of the women had never had a massage much less ever been to a Spa. I must say they were more than Impressed. They were able to accomodate all of us, at the same time. The massages were incredible. Not one of the women had any complaints (now thats incredible). I would go again and again and again. As a matter of fact I'm planning another women's getaway soon and this time its going to be 20 of us and im sure the Agora Spa will WOW us once again.

I was a little disappointed in the facial that I received. The service started out great but the technician left the room for about 15 minutes yet I paid for a 60 minute facial. I was not pleased and felt that while waiting for a mask to dry other attention to the shoulders or even the feet would have been delightful. I will be going elsewhere and have no plans to return.

This is one of the best spas I have ever visited. For me, the spa service starts includes a nice shower, steam room, etc. I am very satisfied with Agora Spa except for the fact that they have just 1 shower room. I was waiting for more than 30 minutes for my turn. They can manage 3-4 treatments at a time - but not all can use the bathroom at one shot. Disappointing.

I haven't had a massage here yet. I love love love Joyce - I've see her over 15x for waxing and recently had the best pedicure ever. She's sweet, honest, trusting and really takes good care of her clients. I will come back for a facial and massage too.

Excellent venue and atmosphere. Good service. E only thing I was disappointed in was the noise. Spas are suppose to be quiet and relaxing but the staff there was loud and kept laughing and talking to each other as though they were at a bar. Very annoying.

From the time you walk into this boutique spa to the time you leave its like a different world . The staff is very nice and the shower in the locker area is amazing. My massage with Bob was probally the best massage I have ever gotten I will be back there in less than a month.

I just recently moved to Stamford and frequent day spas. First time around I was certainly not impressed and planned on never going back. Due to last minute circumstances I was unable to get in anywhere else so I booked another apointment with them. They had openings for the services I requested that same day; this was either a sign that they were accomodating or they needed the business. I was much more satisfied with this visit. The hot stone massage was amazing but the facial could have been a little better. At one point the woman left the room for about 10 minutes and i think that time should and could have been spent pampering me (considering the price) even if i have a masque drying on my face.
Another aspect I really didn't enjoy was that i heard ever footstep and sound the staff made from outside of the room.
Overall I would definitely give it another shot but I am not yet loyal to this Spa. I will certainly continue my search for a better spa in the area.

I selected Agora because of proximity to NY and CT. I booked a couples Hot Stone massage a the last minute during a holiday weekend. The staff was accommodating, professional polite. There was no couples lounge so we relaxed in the small men's lounge prior to our service. Having a room at the hotel made it easier to truly relax and enjoy our day. We both left feeling that the service was enjoyable but Agora wouldn't be in the ranks of our favorite.

The highlight of my experience was one of the best massages I've had. The gal was small but incredibly strong - the best deep tissue massage I've had. I'll definitely be returning.
The atmosphere was great - very high end feel. I used the locker room services including the steam room and shower.
Only real complaints were that the quiet room didn't have chairs where I could put my feet up - only regular chairs. In addition, I could hear some of the staff walking around and talking while I was in the quiet room - I felt they could have put more of a focus on talking quietly knowing that customers were in there looking for quiet.
I give it 4 stars out of 5 and will definitely go back because the massage was so great.
