Betsy the Stylist
I see here that Betsy has a lot of positive reviews which is great! I don't know if I came on an off day or what. But, my sister came in for her hair and makeup for prom night. She arrived 10 min early to her appointment and Betsy came out half an hour later to greet her. So, after being half an hour late to meet her client, Betsy took her back to wax her eyebrows. That took about 15 min. Then for makeup..... It took about an hour and a half just to do the eye makeup. I'm not an artist so I guess I don't understand why it took an hour and a half for this step. Then onto airbrushing and contouring. I will say the airbrush looked great. The eyes were really dramatic to the point of drag queen. My sister wanted a dramatic "smoky" eye, so I guess it was given to her... At one point Betsy had me running up to the counter to grab supplies for her that I had no idea what to grab. Not only this but my sister brought some of her own eyelashes in, she wanted applied. Betsy applied her own eyelashes with a permanent glue because she didn't have semi permanent glue, and told my sister to come in later to have it removed. Then tells us later shes charging us for the eyelashes. Then tells my sister the ones she bought looked fake and bad anyways. She was outspoken for a stylist which can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. My sister had to push back her prom date showing up because it literally took Betsy over 3 hours to do hair and makeup! When she knew we were on a tight schedule. Lesson: when you schedule appointments, make sure you have enough time to make your next appointment on time. The hair was a disaster by my sisters standards... She said he hated it with a passion and she looked like a poodle. Plus Betsy took another hour on top of knowing that we were and hour behind schedule to finish her. Not saying prom was ruined. But my sister had a 6 pm dinner reservation to a restaurant she booked weeks ahead to get in that now she missed due to a stylist mis-time management. Hopefully she can still eat and make prom on time. It is a one night shot. Summary: Give yourself at least 5 hours if you're doing hair and makeup with Betsy. Have tough skin because she can be a little outspoken and harsh. If you want drag queen looks for $110 then shes your gal. Positives: She did a good job on the airbrush contouring.
