The owner did in fact respond, and very quickly. She took full responsibility, spoke to employees, and offered a refund along with an extra service. Her responsive and sincere attitude has convinced me that this was just a bad day, and certainly not what is typical at this salon. An owner as conscientious as this should be commended, offered another chance, and is deserving of a good review.

I had a very nice experience at this spa. The massage therapist was very knowledgable and very professional. I would definitely go back!

This review comes late, however my expereince at Perceptions Salon & Spa was memorable. My first encounter at Perceptions Salon & Spa was during my pregnancy. My husband treated me to couple of facials while Iwas dealing with my worst pregnancy ever. I arrived a few minutes prior to my appointment and was warmly greeted by the receptionist. While filling out some paperwork the owner came out and greeted me as well. Jewel, my esthetician, greeted me and asked me my concerns. She described step by step what she would do to address them. Jewel was extremely gentle. My face felt amazing afterwards. The atmosphere was so calming and relaxing I actually fell asleep both times I was there to receive my facials. There was relaxing music playing. The only time I heard anything was when Jewel opened the door to exit before and after my service to get undressed and dressed. Great serive, great staff, and overall amazing experience! I plan to visit again when my schedule allows!

I have had two manicures with Olivia at Perception. One was a regular manicure and the second was a Shellac manicure. She has done a wondeful job! They have all of the latest colors that CND has made for shellac, and I love that. My only complaint is that the price for the Shellac Manicure is a little high at $37 for the express and $42 for the deluxe. The polish does last two weeks, so it is worth it. I plan to go back in two weeks to have another manicure with another fun polish! Thanks for turning me on to a new nail place in Carytown.

I visited the Perception salon and spa on short notice and they were able to fit in a signature spa day and made me feel great! Very professional staff, good atmosphere. I left feeling like I could conquor the world!

I went here during my birthday celebration and was treated like a queen. The manicurist matched my colors perfectly and the decor was very elegant but, simple. But I do have a question? 1. Does Perception have male clients? My son and his girlfriend want to come in, but my son, who needs to be open-minded, is worried that he will be the only guy in the salon.

I absolutely LOVE this spa!! I'm always on the go with work, so it's nice to take time out now & again to visit Perception to recoup. I truly feel welcome when I visit (not nearly as often as I would like!). The owner, Mercedes, actually works in the spa & takes beautiful care of my hands when I slow down enough to let her! She's very gentle & doesn't sand off my cuticles like some places I've been to in the past. I love that she takes time out of her schedule to drop by my chair to chat for at least a quick minute during the times I've been in only to get my hair fixed. It means a lot to me & I've always felt an on-staff/site owner makes a tremendous difference with any establishment (like a chef-owned restaurant). Kelly does my hair & I feel like a superstar when I leave the salon when she's done. I've been complimented multiple times on my hair & had to actually show a friend once it really is my OWN hair because of all Kelly's great work over the years getting it shiny & healthy! I'm always amazed at how many services Perception offers & am trying to work my way through the menu as time/budget allows. Perception is such a nice place to escape to - with the staff going the extra mile to make me feel comfortable at every opportunity & never unwanted/an inconvenience like some spas I've visited in the past. The Perception staff would never be arrogant or snotty - they're way too cool for that!! Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em BUNCHES!! Thanks for taking such great care of me, guys! ~Terra T.

Girls day at the spa
Three girlfriends and I recently spent a day at Perceptions for mani/pedis. The staff was fun and attentive. They let us bring in a bottle of wine to enjoy and were very friendly and professional.The mani/pedis lasted a long time on all of us.

Excellent Spa Experience
What an excellent way to spend an afternoon. I arrived early and was immediately offered something to drink while I waited for my appointment time. The atmosphere is fabulous. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. I had lost my gift certificate, but the owner calmed my fears right away and with a few clicks on the computer had solved the problem. I purchased a pedicure and facial. The services were impeccable. Talk about a pampered afternoon. Emily, the pedicurist was so sweet and paid close attention to detail, even down to the water's temperature and the lower leg and foot massages. The facial was to die for!! Jewel was unbelievable. She talked to me about any skin issues and assured me that she would address them. The room was warm, the music soft and her touch was soothing. She even massaged my neck, shoulders, arms and hands. It was so calming and relaxing that I found myself falling asleep. Afterwards, she talked to me about the products she used and why. My face felt like the face of a baby. And trust, I am far from being a baby. This was my second facial in ten years and I will definitely be going back for another soon!

Perfect Spa Experience
My friends recently threw me a baby shower at Perception Spa and Salon. When I arrived, I was greeted and congratulated by the owner, ushered into the main spa area that was tastefully decorated with tea colored roses, small baby trinkets and spa favors. The tables were set up with indulgent goodies, beautifully arranged and accompanied with wine and sparking cider for myself and guests who did not consume alcohol. After pleasantries with my friends, I was whisked away to the facial room and received the most luxurious facial by Jewel (incidentally, I promised her my firstborn after this service). Jewel's name is no misnomer. Her touch is light and measured; her manner calm and soothing. I spoke with her right before my facial and she asked me about my skin concerns. I mentioned to her that I had been suffering with severe acne as a result of my hormones. She immediately alleviated my concerns and proceeded to outline her plan of attack, explaining to me the products she was going to use and reassuring me that all were safe to use during my pregnancy. I left with my skin glowing and bright. I will definitely be following up with Jewel to continue my skin care regimen upkeep. My friends thoroughly enjoyed the spa services, everything from the mani/pedis to the facials, etc. My guests were totally pampered and no need went unattended. This was a wonderful way to celebrate my pregnancy and I want to personally thank the owner for such an elegant afternoon!

Not a "Full" Spa Experience
I purchased a package deal and I went in on my birthday. I filled out the usual paperwork and waited for my masseuse to come and get me from the waitng area. The salon is very nice, clean and nicely decorated. The staff was nice. However, the services were not that great. I booked a package deal hoping to have the type of half day spa exprience that I'm used to, like getting a robe, slippers and a glass of wine. No wine, no robe, no slipplers. Unlike real spas, there wasn't a separate, secluded area for massages and facials. The massage/facial room was right in the same area as the pedicure/manicure/hair styling area. So, I heard blowdryers and conversations hair stylists were having with their clients during my massage. I was really upset because it's hard to relax and clear your mind when you hear all of that going on. The massage was not that great. The pressure was very soft and when I asked for more pressure, it was still about a 5 out of 10 on the pressure scale. When it came time for my facial, the massage girl left and facial girl came in. The facial girl basically had to "set-up". So, I heard her scurrying back and forth in the room, pouring water here, running water there. Definitely ruined the relaxing experience again. Spa pedicure and manicure were average. The manicurist/pedicurist was very nice. But, for $45 I should be getting a leg/calf massage and a forearm massage too. I didn't get any of that. Maybe they are better in the hair department. But, if you're looking for a relaxing day at the spa, DO NOT COME HERE!

Jewel is an absolute jewel and gives a fantastic pedicure. She does not rush you like most "chop shops" and makes you feel pampered. She is meticulous in her work and takes pride in what she does. I highly recommend her!

Overall the experience I had was average. It didnt quite meet my expectations. Hair cut was good. Nail tech was great but put the light pink coat over my french manicure insted of under it so my white french tips were tinted pink. I ended up going home and removing it.
Hello, We apologize that you did not like the way that your french top coat was done. There are several different ways to complete a french manicure...all depending on personal preference. However, you should never leave unsatisfied, as Perception will ALWAYS touch up, fix, etc...any issue that you do not like for free as this is part of our customer service. We hope to see you soon. The experience at this spa was fantastic from start to finish. From the moment I walked in the door I was treated as if I were the only person that mattered from everyone in the spa and salon. The receptionist was all smiles and took my jacket and got me something to drink as soon as I was settled in to fill out my paperwork. I had an appt set upfor me by someone else to try this place out and boy was it worth it. I had an appt for a manicure, pedicure, swedish massage (they were running a special on this package). Well I usually have artifical nails so they worked around that instead of a manicure, and I prefer a deep tissue massage over a swedish... which they also worked around! They let me still do the special and I only had a minor adjustment in price. The owner herself did my nails and pedicure and both were fantastic. The massage therapist Sam was also amazing. She was very in tune to my needs and making sure I was comfortable at all times. This is going to be my new spa and nail salon! They also do hair and the main stylist made it a point to speak to me and give me her card. If you are looking for a one-stop shop for nails/hair this is the place.... also the best massage therapist I have had in years! This place gets an A+ on price, atmosphere, and quality of service!
