SpaFinder Names Executive Team for Luxury SpaFinder Interactive
New York, NY - April 3, 2008
SpaFinder, Inc., the global spa resource, has announced the leadership team for Luxury SpaFinder Interactive, its new online magazine targeting millions of global spa consumers in six languages. Key personnel include Sarah Day, who will serve as vice president of SpaFinder’s Global Publishing Group; Melisse Gelula, editor in chief; and Sue Llewelyn, creative director of global publishing. The three are transitioning from the hard-copy Luxury SpaFinder magazine, which is evolving into an interactive format as part of SpaFinder’s global marketing and green initiatives.
“We’re extremely excited to have Sarah, Melisse, and Sue lead the new online magazine,” said SpaFinder COO Sallie Fraenkel. “They’ve played key roles in transforming our printed magazine into a truly world-class publication, and we’re looking forward to more of their creative direction as we take Luxury SpaFinder to a much larger audience, in a new format.”
Sarah Day, who was the print magazine’s production director since 2003, will now serve as vice president of SpaFinder’s Global Publishing Group, overseeing the new interactive publication as well as the company’s worldwide spa directory, Global SpaFinder, the largest printed directory of its kind. Sarah has 25 years of publishing experience, having served as production director at Sail magazine and Time Out New York magazine and managing editor at Latina Magazine.
Since joining Luxury SpaFinder in 2003 as Spa Beauty Editor, Melisse Gelula has significantly expanded the magazine’s coverage of spa beauty news, trends, and products, including the launch of “Beauty & Brains: The Thinking Woman’s Guide to Skin Care,” the magazine’s highly-respected beauty section, as well its annual beauty issue, which has become a must-read for consumers and industry members.
Prior to joining Luxury SpaFinder, Gelula served as a travel editor for Fodor’s Travel Publications, where she edited dozens of travel books and created new guides on up-and-coming destinations. Her insight on the spa lifestyle has been featured in major publications such as The New York Times, USA Today, and CNN.com, and she has appeared on the Travel Channel, E! News and NPR.
Sue Llewellyn, who was art director of Luxury SpaFinder, will oversee art direction and design of Luxury SpaFinder Interactive in her new position as creative director of global publishing. Prior to joining SpaFinder, Llewellyn was creative director of Primedia’s Youth Entertainment Group, re-launching six magazines targeted at Gen Y readers, including Teen Beat, Tiger Beat, and Bop. She has art directed for Seventeen, Men’s Journal Specials, Men’s Health Fashion, Sound & Image; and designed Teen Vogue, YM, American Lawyer, InStyle, Time Out UK and Psychology Today UK. She has received numerous international design awards and served as vice president for the Board of Directors of the Society of Publication Designers.
