Emerson Resort & Spa, just two hours north of New York City, is the perfect place to enjoy the pastoral elegance of the Hudson Valley. In March 2007, the revamped resort reopened with adults-only Asian-inspired accommodations in a romantic two-story inn. The inn also houses the 8,000-square-foot Spa, among whose highlights is a broad selection of Ayurvedic treatments. The spa even employs a vaidya (Ayurvedic practitioner). The log-cabin-style Lodge has rustic-themed, all-ages rooms and suites.
Nestled amidst the pines and maples of the 600-square-mile Catskill Forest Preserve, Emerson seems to blend into the surrounding scenery. The resort's location allows guests access to the Hudson Valley's wealth of outdoor leisure options, including kayaking, canoeing, fishing, hiking, and skiing. Emerson offers an indoor resistance pool and an outdoor leisure pool, as well as a fitness center complete with yoga studio. In addition, cultural attractions abound near Emerson, such as film festivals and musical events.
