Renowned as a "spa visionary," Mike Canizales, Chairman and CEO of Spa Chakra, Inc., founded Spa Chakra in 1997. Spa Chakra's first location opened in Sydney, Australia, and quickly garnered accolades for its integrative medi-spa approach in health management and luxury spa therapies.
In 2003 Guerlain also selected Spa Chakra as its partner to provide design, consulting, and management for the new Guerlain Spa network of luxury flagship destinations. Spa Chakra exclusively utilizes Guerlain's world-renowned skincare and fragrance in each personalized therapy and offers the complete array of Guerlain products in spa retail boutiques.
The History of Guerlain
In 1828, Pierre-Francois-Pascal Guerlain opened his first fragrance shop in Paris. He created skincare products and custom-blended fragrances for his dedicated clientele-royalty among them. With more than 300 perfumes to the house's credit-including the famous Shalimar fragrance-the House of Guerlain was owned and managed by members of the Guerlain family until 1994 when it was acquired by the LVMH group, a leading international luxury goods house. The boutique moved to the Champs-Elysées in 1914, and the Guerlain Institute-where the famous Guerlain Méthode of Facial and Body Massage originated-opened above the boutique in 1939.
