Turks and Caicos

A little off the beaten path, this British colony is home to the third largest coral reef system in the world and offers more than 200 miles of beaches. The Turks & Caicos is made up of 40 islands and is part of the same archipelago as The Bahamas. Grand Turk is the capital, and Christopher Columbus is said to have first made landfall on one of its beaches. Whale watching is a popular attraction throughout the Turks & Caicos, as well as gazing at dolphins that are a familiar sight in the turquoise waters of the coastline.
